I'm in trouble ☹️ I need help please

My fiancé ordered the birth certificates for his children, as he needs them for his interview at the embassy in London.

On one of the birth certificates he has an alternate name listed that his mother referred to him as when she remarried. She used this as his last name from the age of 5 to 10 but this was never his legal name and was never legally changed to this name that is shown on his daughters b/c

Here is the problem. This name is listed on his daughter's birth certificate in addition to his legal last name. He has no idea why the nurse or doctor put that last name down other than the fact that he informed them that it was used by his mother when he was a child.

Because he just received the copies of the birth certificates, we did not put this last name on our application because he never even thought of it as being his name.

We have no idea what to do because we don't want him to get to the embassy interview and for them to say to him, why do you have this alias name on your daughter's birth certificate but you don't have it listed on your visa application and you don't have a ded poll for the name change?

can anyone, someone, offer me any suggestions or information?

We are scared to death because there's no legal name change that this was his name,  he and his mother are estranged and she has already said she never legally changed his name that's just what she referred to him as but she enrolled him in school under that name because she had two other children with the man who had this last name.

i'm sorry this is so confusing.

Are the children immigrating as well? If not, they won't want to look at their birth certificates.

They are not. My understanding that was the embassy still required their birth certificates.

We miss read. We now understand you only need b/c if the children are also applying for a visa. Do you think we still need to add the other last name as it could be considered an alias if they come across it in the background checks and we didn't put it on the initial application? We miss read.
