My fiancee and I had applied for a tourist visa so he could come meet my children and see where I live.  We are currently in the k1 process.  He took everything showing that we are doing this the right and legal way.  When they asked about our age difference he was honest with them.  The man proceeded to tell him no because he didn't feel that our relationship was real given our age.  If this is what he has gone through just for a vistor visa, I can't imagine what it's going to be like with the k1 interview.  I'm going back next week for another visit.   Should we just get married there and start the process over for a spouse visa? There is a 15 year gap in our age.  While it makes no sense on paper, we are perfect for each other.  Thanks in advance for the suggestions :)

Tourist visa and K1 application are different, in a way.  He might not get the same kind of questioning in the interview for your K1.  Just make sure you have a strong evidence of your relationship.  Do note though that everything depends upon the discretion of the officers who are/will be reviewing your petition.

Good luck.

I am older than he is.  No he has no children.  I'm in America he is in Morocco.  Next week will be our second time spending time together.  We have been together almost a year.  We talk every day.

You have a hard embassy and tourist visa from Morocco is not an easy thing to get. They think he will stay and adjust his status.

Make as many visit as you can before his K-1 interview and if you can be there for the interview also then even better.

He should be prepared for a lot of questions and just make sure you guys have a lot of evidence. Take pictures with his family while you are there also so he can show that they are a part of this and have accepted you and so on.

They did not deny him for the age gap, denied because they thought he would not go home.

Immigrant visa is different, others have alluded to the issues.

He wasn't going to be granted a tourist visa for any reason given the facts of your case. The difference in your ages has nothing to do with a tourist visa for example. Even K 1s are not easy so plan on extra time. Your visits are helpful. While you may be perfect for each other it must make absolute sense on paper because that's all USCIS has to go by. Make sure yours is perfect & you are ready to be patient with the process. A K 1 delays the marriage by 90 days unless someone changes their mind. A CR1 is more certain in its path & timing. Understand & try to avoid the A P process that affects many of these cases.

What do you mean by a K-1 delays the marriage by 90 days?

I apologize for assuming that was our age.  He stated the interviewers whole demeanor changed once he learned my age.  It what it is.  I do appreciate everyone's responses.  We are about a month or less from when we should expect to hear about our NOA2.  We will see what happens then and get ready to cross bridges from there.  What do you do...hang in there is my best guess :)

It is not denied based on your age gap. He has to prove his financial capabilities and willingness to return. I am the female foreign spouse, i am  13 years older, I am Chinese, husband is Irish American, I am agnostic, he is catholic,  not a single question was asked at our interviews.

K1 is to marry within 90 days. One questions was about when to marry with respect to visa timing. Keeping in mind its Morocco seeking the K 1 can take a long time with denial a possibility it may be better to marry to ensure the visa. If the certain goal is marriage then why wait the 90 days?

The one question that already came up is age difference. Totality of relationship is paramount to overcome such questions.

Don't agree that any K-1 delays any marriage by 90 days.

Ehat tou are are explaining now has nothing to do with a K-1 given a 90 day delay on marriage
