My SO called a few hours ago to say that when she went from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, the customs people pointed out that her son's visa indicates that he is a girl! They are coming on her K-1 fiancee visa.

She plans to call my lawyer's assistant in Guangzhou in the morning to ask how to fix this, or whether it needs to be fixed in order to get through customs in Hong Kong when she flies to New York on Thursday, or when she goes through customs at JFK. I will also call my lawyer on Monday with the same questions.

Anybody else have this experience when the consulate goofed on the visa? Is it something that she has to fix before she leaves? Does she have to go back to Guangzhou for a new visa? Can she contact the consulate in Hong Kong?

Thanks in advance.

Brian

He's almost eleven, so it's pretty obvious he's not a girl.

Since they have his birth certificate, Chinese passport, etc., to identify him, I think it won't be a problem. I guess I'll find out tomorrow when I call my lawyer. Hopefully, they won't have to return to Guangzhou for a new, corrected visa since they have tickets to leave on Thursday for NYC!

Hi,

You have to returned the visa to the embassy and show them the error so that they can issue a new visa, like what happened to my sons visa, they made a mistake on his nationality, they put JPN but his a FILIPINO with a Philippine passport, after 2 days I came back to the embassyand pick-up my sons passport with a new visa.

I hope this could help. Goodluck.

Hello Brian:

We finally got our K3/K4 visas today and the same thing happened to us. My son's K4 visa lists his sex as "F", I also wanted information on what to do since we already bought our tickets to go to the USA on July 10 and I think that even attempting to contact the consulate could arise a delay in getting everything sorted out.

Does anyone know if this could be a problem at the POE? I think its a minor error since his Passport says his sex as "M" and he is 5 years old... What does anyone advise? Should we just wait and try to contact the Consulate once in the USA???

What happened with your family's trip? did they had any problems at JFK entering the USA?

Any information is greatly appreciated!!!
