I went again today to the Texas DPS, to try to renew my DL that expired at the same date as my K-1 visa. They took my I-797 to check on SAVE  with my alien number and it's gonna take a couple more days to get an answer from the DHS. I hope it will work and that I'll be able to renew my DL!

Thats cool!

Here in MO they didn't even know about the SAVE...... So I think at the end you can renew your DL

I guess I got lucky this time, because when I went to get my license on first place, they told me 2 times that they were not accepting the I-797 as a proof of lawful presence, despite what was indicated on their website. But with a little bit more research I was ready to try again, and this time they accepted it, but saying that there was no guarantee that it will work. I guess I'll find out in a couple of days. But here I really need a driving license, especially if I want to take an EMT course, where I'll have to drive.
