O-1 Change of Status from F-1

Hi, I am having my employer file an O-1B visa for Extraordinary Ability in the Arts for me very soon. My current status is F1, and I am currently in my Optional Practical Training period. I am requesting Change of Status (COA) from F-1 to O-1, and I have about 3 months before my Duration of Status (D/S) expires. Will it be enough to just request the Change of Status in the I-129 petition form? Or, do I have to submit the form I-539 in addition?
