Hi @u_got_that, you can schedule an infopass here: https://my.uscis.gov/appointment or call your nearest USCIS processing center and explain the situation to them. There could be a chance they can give you an earlier infopass date. I required an I-551 stamp and the infopass appointment date I was scheduled for was to far off. So I took a chance and did a walk in. Once I explained the situation, they allowed me to go inside and consult with the Immigration Officer there. Make sure you can show them some proof of why you have to leave the country now.

 

Another approach which may or may not work, but is worth a shot is to open an online USCIS account. You can use the instructions here: https://www.uscis.gov/file-online/uscis-online-account-setup. After you have created the account, there is a way to enter your case number on the portal so you will get online updates and hopefully the digital version of your biometrics letter. I am afraid I can't give you the exact instructions because the way my online account is set up now does not allow me to enter a new case number. But when I first opened the account, I navigated around the portal and there was a section which allowed me to enter pending case numbers. So maybe play around and see if you can do that? Best case scenario: you get the digital FP letter within a few days. Worst case scenario: you get online updates much faster and no digital FP letter.

I got an email and the PDF biometrics letter posted on my online account which says the date, time and place of appointment (I'm thinking about just printing the letter and using that for an early walk-in tomorrow instead of waiting for the letter in the mail...but I'll probably get the mailed letter in the next day or two anyhow.)

Wow nice it's better file online is more faster and u can see the date for ur appoiments.

@lover5 try the above and see if you can at least view updates on your application--- u_got_that suggested this originally to another person and it may work for you too.  I think the above would work, whether you filed the N400 online or by paper...it's worth a shot to see if there's any info on your application.

I did by paper and I check my case online and just day the same received.

NYC Field Office is probably one of the busiest (if not THE busiest) offices for N400 applications...I'm sure you'll hear something from them soon---I know it's frustrating to wait but hang in there!

Good morning! I updated my biometrics appointment. This might be a stupid question but what is the difference between IOE and NBC?

When I had filed online, I got an IOE number so, at the end of the chart below, I entered IOE. Now, when I am looking at the biometrics appointment letter, it shows "NBC" under service center. Also, the SS field on the letter is blank?!? Is that normal?

NBC is the National Benefits Center...the service center who is processing the case and fingerprints.

IOE is the (Elis) E-filing application number...you filed online so your number is IOE.

 

My PDF of the biometrics letter shows the same thing----NBC with an IOE application number.  If you look near the top of the form you will see the application number is still an IOE #.

It is normal for the SS field to be blank on the biometrics letter.

 

You are still an IOE applicant because you filed online.

Thank you Going through. Makes more sense since you have the same thing NBC with an IOE number. Now I am debating whether to do a walk-in or just wait for the actual appointment. Not sure how the Houston office will treat a walk in.
