I didn't think of it either until I remembered other threads where field offices were "closed" on Fridays, yet people's interviews were scheduled on the Friday...so staff were in the building working, they just weren't "open" to the public (except those with interview letters).

Part of the reason they may be behind is they make extra work for themselves in Chicago. For example, they only give 6-month I-551 extensions in Chicago rather than 12-month extensions (during ROC, for example), which creates extra work for them if they're forcing some with extra-long adjudication times people to come in twice as often.

And they called my wife to her N-400 interview a few weeks ago, only to tell her in person that morning that they couldn't conduct an N-400 interview because ROC is still pending (thank you, CSC), and they were sending her file "downstairs" to the I-751 people. Haven't heard a thing since. If Chicago were like any other office I've read about, they would have just done a combo interview on the spot, but now they're dragging things out and making extra work for themselves, and making this case ultimately require multiple interview slots, which of course slows down interview opportunities for others. *shrug* I hope your case goes more quickly & smoothly than ours!

I have my Oath date last Friday. What a wonderful day for me. They let my husband in and the director was so funny and he let family taking photos during the ceremony at any angle!

I am so proud, I am an American now!

I am a USC!!!!! It was a beautiful ceremony at the museum. The representative from USCIS is very friendly and humorous. There were magnificent symphony playing. We also got to visit the museum. The museum closes on Monday so it feels like private viewing just for us. There were 37 people from 18 countries. They called each country and every time people stood up, there were lots of round of applause. It's a just a nice feeling to be appreciated.

My family and friends came and they all mentioned how nice the ceremony was. They also commented how strict the oath of allegiance is - bear arm, give up loyalty, etc. They said they will never understand the whole predicament because they were born here. It's an eye opening experience to see what people sacrifice to be here.

To everyone here, thank you so much. I would never be here on the finish line, this quickly, without all your help and advice.

To those who are still waiting, I wish you good luck!!!! My mother in law gave me this card - see below. The inside card said "Great things come to those who GO for it!" That's so true, at least for me.

And also, Happy Thanksgiving!!! :jest: .

Hi Sorry I haven't been much active lately. I just got an update on egov that my oath ceremony will be scheduled. MYUSCIS says that your case has been approved and says that the wait time is approx. 6 months

let's see when they schedule my interview.

Hi Sorry I haven't been much active lately. I just got an update on egov that my oath ceremony will be scheduled. MYUSCIS says that your case has been approved and says that the wait time is approx. 6 months

let's see when they schedule my interview.

Congrats....i'm waiting...no status updates for me...it still says "interviewed was scheduled"
