Does USCIS assign the nearest office for your citizenship interview and oath based on your address?  :huh2:  Do we have an option to pick and choose an office that we're willing to go to?  :reading:

For example, my office is Seattle and its processing time is 7-9 months.  :clock:  However, I could drive to Yakima or Spokane office (2-4 hours by car) and their processing time is about 6 months.  :dancing:  I wonder if I could call USCIS and tell them I want my case to be processed at Yakima or Spokane office.  :huh2:

I believe it is the closest office based on address - basically, I presume, wherever you got your biometrics done is where you will also have your oath interview / oath ceremony. (PS: Seattle office for me, too).

Yes, normally.  It's uncommon but not unheard of for people to have to travel out of their way for their interview/oath.

As for the second question, I don't know but somehow I doubt it.

With the recent news about mandatory interviews for certain immigration petitions, will this affect me as I have my removal of conditions pending (i751) along with my current N400? It said i485, but I can't remember when I filed that.

Thank you

Thank you

i-485 is the Adjustment of Status----when you first got your greencard.  So you would have already had the interview for that (if you had one) a long time ago :)

i-751 ROC---not everyone has an interview for that.  If they were to interview you, they would do it at the same time as your N400 interview most likely.

Thank you! I received my conditional green card 3 years ago and had an interview for that. Then had to wait 2 years before applying for removal of conditions which is still pending. So looks like I'm good.

Yeah it would make sense they adjudicate both petitions at the same time.

Yes, based on your physical address (and not even your mailing address, if that is different from your physical address). It would have been far more convenient for me to travel to the office near my mailing address, for biometrics and oath ceremony. There are 1 or 2 oath ceremonies every week near my mailing address. Ceremonies "near" (in most cases a two-hour drive) my physical address are scheduled every 5-8 weeks :cry2:

I just Googled a little bit on this.  :reading:

According to https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices, it looks like they go by the state and county you live in.  :dancing:

Can I change it to another office?  :huh2:   It seems like I can't find any information on that.  :bonk:

My physical and my mailing address are in different counties and regions in the state, but they are in the same Field Office (Chicago) and same USCIS district. The places where oath ceremonies are held care different, at least in my case.

I think venues are assigned based on your physical address, I don't think you can choose your oath venue, or even your field office. I suppose you could try to call USCIS to find out for sure. I'm actually interested in knowing whether I could choose my oath venue within the same field office.

It looks like I can change my USCIS field office IF I MOVE!  :rofl::rofl:

And the application process MAY GET DELAYED since they'll need to transfer all your files to another office!  :rofl::rofl:

Yep, neither of us had far to go! Here's hoping the Seattle Field Office is working our cases ahead of the timeline that USCIS shows!! 🇨🇦 🇺🇸 🤞

Same thing for Miami... It's very disappointing. I've searched on the forums for people that applied months prior to us to try and find other Miami applicants... someone that applied in November I think it was still does not have their interview scheduled (they are regular posters so I know its not a case of not updating here), so I think that those times are unfortunately accurate.

It's not official data, but just to make sure people know if they don't realize already: you can search VJ N-400 timelines based on local field office: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?cfl=&op5=5,10,11 (then choose your Local CIS office from the dropdown menu at the bottom).

These are only as accurate as users make them, so here's another friendly reminder to everyone to create & update their timeline! :-)

Yeah, that makes sense.  I'm curious now---why did you want it relocated?  Is it due to delays/backlog at your current office?
