No, there is no official letter of that sort that I've heard of.  I only knew I was inline from my online status.

I am so happy for you! After the interview, it should be 4-6 weeks from what I have heard and seen ....

No I am in California, so it is indeed Arizona lockbox. I don't know local office for sure, probably Santa Ana.

@vkhutchings since we are so close in timeline since biometrics---I wonder if we will end up getting the same oath ceremony date too.  If we do, I would love to actually meet you.

Absolutely! I wonder how many people's timelines on here have ever matched up like this? I would imagine that if we both get approved on the interview day they probably would schedule us for the same ceremony. 

 

How common is it, by the way, to have to wait until after the interview to receive approval? (If more docs are needed or if another officer has to look over the evidence, for example.) I'm wondering whether I should be expecting approval on the day, or whether it's actually more normal to have to wait.

I've been reading conflicting reports of whether Federal Plaza still gives out oath ceremony letters on the day of the interview anymore (they used to, for sure).

 

It's more common to have to wait for approval/oath letter by mail, even if the IO comes right out and says "I'm approving you" or "I'm recommending you for approval"...and then hands you a letter saying something like "a written decision will be mailed", which naturally leaves a lot of people feeling confused and anxious for a couple of more weeks.

 

I do know that Queens filers' oath ceremonies are held in Brooklyn, normally.

Hi guys,

 

I have a faxed biometric letter appointment from USCIS 2nd tier IO (the original never came via the mail) and because the schedule me for tomorrow 8/23/17, the 2nd tier IO faxed me the letter.  Does anyone know if the USCIS local center (where I need to go for the biometric) will accept this faxed (i.e. not original letter)?

I will still go tomorrow of course but curious if anyone here has any experience or have heard anything like this before?

As long as the fax has a barcode for them to scan on it, you're fine.   It's basically like using a printed PDF letter like some others do.  The IO printed it out on his computer, instead of you doing it (if it were uploaded on yours).
