@Going through I am pretty sure they will accept it because you are providing the copies at least. What they may do is ask for an RFE for the original document. In which case you have some time from filing to collect the original. Just a suggestion: I filed online which makes the process much easier, faster and the updates are all online and in real time (plus you save all those trees). So if you file online, there won't be a question of copy or original cause it will just be scanned.

Yeah I tried to submit my filing online but they only provided a link to filing the I-90 online, not the N400 unfortunately.  I read it was available only to a small handful of areas---would have been perfect in my situation!  I also thought of that too---if they RFE me, at least it would buy me a bit more time.  I'm hoping the only RFE I get is the standard one sent out before fingerprinting

This post is for anyone who wants to apply for the N-400 online. The USCIS website is a bit tricky and doesn't take you directly to the N-400 application portal. These are the steps to online application:

 

1. Go to this link https://my.uscis.gov/apply/naturalization

2. Click on "Create Account"

3. Type in your email  and click on "Sign Up"

4. A confirmation will be sent to your email. Click on the link sent to your email and it will redirect you to a page that will enable you to create a password. Then click "Submit"

5. Go to think link https://my.uscis.gov/exploremyoptions/us_citizen_through_naturalization#benefit-related-content-2 and click the green "Apply" button

6. After this you will be returned to the original log in page where you sign in with your credentials

7. You can take the eligibility test and start your application. 

8. While uploading evidence please be careful because the summary page is still glitchy. Upload the documents in one log in (usually at the end after you have done your final review and before submission) for best results.

Ok I just submitted my application online and paid...I see the IOE number but I thought there would be an actual page to print out like a receipt page of sorts, or no?

 

I did print out my application summary though, before paying.

Welcome to the July filers club!! There is no receipt page as such when you submit it. The NOA is essentially the receipt notice. It mentions USCIS has received your application and is reviewing it. You will be notified via text and/or email (whichever option you have chosen) when the digital version of the NOA becomes available on the portal. This would most likely be tomorrow morning. You will have the physical NOA in the mail within the next few days.

 

Once you have the digital NOA please let us know the following information regarding your application so the schedule can be updated:

Username:  

GC Date:

Sent date:

Date check/card Cashed:

NOA receipt date:

Field Office:

Yes I will start a timeline when I have the info.  When I logged into my USCIS account, it said a receipt notice had been emailed, but I haven't gotten anything yet.
