@Going through is the NOA posted online basically saying the date I submitted the application? Also it mentions " we will begin reviewing application, background check etc etc". If it is then I got it. And you are right, I got an email saying my case has been updated. Now the waiting game begins....

I totally agree that it is a personal preference but my take is as follows:

 

Some algorithm is used to determine the eligibility if a person can apply online or not.

Ease of data entry in the online system

More simplified questions vs paper application

Paper application can be structured however you want it. You can include tabs, showing different exhibit and what not. 

System glitches in the online system can be very frustrating. Especially, the attachment section. 

Quick TAT for NOA notice. 

You can upload more evidence even when the application has been submitted and is being processed.

I hemmed and hawed over it for a few days...whether to mail it in or do it online.

 

I finally chose e-filing for a few reasons.  One was that I liked the idea of basically "over-nighting" my application for free.  Instant submission, instant payment cleared, instant arrival to them.  That made it faster for me from the get-go instead of waiting a few days for them to receive it, and then waiting a few days to cash my check/clear my check from the bank.  And saved me the money of paying for the envelope, the delivery confirmation, the certified mail fee/overnight express fee.  Not to mention saved me the stress of watching the post lady take it away and worrying no one would ever see it again.

 

It also works out in my favor to e-file because I am waiting on a couple "had to send away for originals again" documents that would take a bit of time to get to me, but I would certainly have them in my hands before my interview months down the road.  By e-filing, I'm at least able to get my application underway by uploading scans of photocopies made years ago that I'd thankfully still held onto.

 

The only issue I had with the e-filing was the duplicate document uploads, which I really didn't worry about because the issue is on their end, not mine, and the documents did attach to my submission so that was all that mattered to me in the end.

Yes, and that payment has been received.  The paper one will read the same date.

@Jaxx Thank you so much for fixing the formatting! It was driving me crazy haha but I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I think moving forward we should Quote the format you posted and change our dates on that. 

 

After my biometrics appointment, my online status changed that day to "USCIS has scheduled your interview appointment and will mail you the appointment notice". It has not been updated since. So, looking at posts from other forums, I am assuming that's the date it was sent to the Field Office.

@Jaxx Thank you so much for fixing the formatting! It was driving me crazy haha but I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I think moving forward we should Quote the format you posted and change our dates on that. 

 

After my biometrics appointment, my online status changed that day to "USCIS has scheduled your interview appointment and will mail you the appointment notice". It has not been updated since. So, looking at posts from other forums, I am assuming that's the date it was sent to the Field Office. 

I know you did a walk in with the biometrics---what was the original date of the biometrics because it looks like it sped up you being in line for an interview?

 I have been watching your updates here since you did your walk in waiting to see if it put you inline for the interview any faster ;)

I finally confirmed with my local post office that my whole application was lost( I sent as certified mail) I am so pissed and also worry my personal information will leak out. I can't believe this will happen to me. Anyway, I'm not sure should I send in another application via mail or online. And also what if the lost mail finally deliver to uscis too then I will have 2 applications. I'm so lost now.

The post office can't trace it at all?

My suggestion would be to wait another few days to apply again in case through some miracle it does get there---As for if you have to file again--- online or mail is your choice---but cancel the check sent with the first one so that it can't be cashed in case it does show up after you submit the 2nd application.
