My interview is this coming Tuesday April 10th. Wish me luck guys! I guess, I should get some passport photos ready? I didn't know that I could be asked for that ... I guess I can stop by at CVS later today!!!

Yea there's a chance the photo taken at your biometrics might be deemed unusable for whatever reason.  If you don't use the photos at your interview, just use them later when applying for your passport --- so no money wasted :)

Guys.

 

I am so frustrated right now, and just want to scream so bad out of frustration.  I am supposed to have my N400 interview tomorrow at Philly's local office, and got a message this afternoon at my work phone (was at some meetings) and an IO agent from USCIS called and told me that my interview for tomorrow is cancelled because they don't have my files in their local office.  HUH? How could that even be possible?!?!?!  And she said, please don't come here tomorrow.

 

She also said my file has been shipped to their location but did not arrive yet at their location as of this afternoon so they had to cancel it because without the file, they cannot conduct the interview.  She then said I will receive a new interview notice in the mail within 30 business days ... OMG!? 

 

I called USCIS number, got to talk to tier 1 rep who knew nothing, asked to be transferred to tier 2 but she said all tier 2 officers do not receive transfer calls anymore at this time due to heavy traffic.  She did set up a call back request, but can take up to 3 business days. I'm gonna try to call again tomorrow morning at 8am when they just opened.

 

But, is this USCIS message legit? I thought USCIS don't give a call? I guess last minute cancellation? Maybe?

 

Thoughts folks?  has this ever happened to anyone? what kind of delay am I looking at now? Should I just show up anyways tomorrow???

Passed my test today but unfortunately they need more documents to prove our marriage (such as joint account, insurance, etc). I thought the income tax is good enough which shows our name together and address but guess not. Now need to wait for another letter (in few weeks) to submit the additional documents. Waiting game still continue now:(

I had my appointment for March 21 but they called me on the 20th to change it for May 3, today I called USCIS to find out why the letter has not arrived and they told me that they still have not rescheduled my appointment. What can I do?

So it took me a little while to come back here after the last few busy weeks.

 

I had my interview on Monday, April 9th. 

 

It was a review of the n400 form info and the following 6 questions:

 

Who is the governor of your state? 

Nathan Deal

 

Name two US National Holidays?

MLK and Thanksgiving

 

Where is the statue of Liverty?

Liberty Island, New York

 

Who was the first president?

George Washington

 

What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen?

Be loyal to the US

 

What movement tried to end racial discrimination?

The Civil Rights Movement

 

I was also asked to read: Where does the president live? and Write: The president lives in the White House.

 

The thing that took the longest is that I am already a dual national (UK and France) so I put that on my application. It turns out the system doesn't seem to be able to cope with two entries so the Immigration officer which passport did I initially enter the country with and he amended the form to include only that country. I had all my previous passports with me (covering 20+ years) but he didn't really look at the them.

 

He then offered an oath ceremony for the Friday of the same week which I accepted. 

 

The immigration office was friendly  and seemed most concerned about getting through the interview quickly. 

 

After that I was told to wait for the notice for the Oath Ceremony - that took about 10-15 minutes.

 

I returned on the Friday for the oath ceremony that was scheduled for 12:30pm. Everything went smoothly. I registered to vote then and there straight after the ceremony. I applied for a US passport that afternoon. I paid for the expedited service and received just under two weeks later. I also received my naturalization certificate jut over two weeks later.

 

Relieved to be a US citizen before my GA Driver's license expires. A new GA license and Social Security card and the last tasks left for me in this process.

 

Everything went smoothly throughout - the hardest part is the stress of waiting for that interview date....

Hi everybody, 

I had my interview yesterday and just wanted to share my experience in case it was helpful for anyone. I arrived at my Field Office about 25 minutes prior to my interview, a bit early I know but I didn't want to chance it with traffic having waited 10 months for my interview date :D Once I handed in my letter I was called around exactly around the time of my interview.

The officer was really nice and checked my documentation. She then asked me to read a simple question and then write the answer to it (she told me what to write...) My civics questions were:

One right or Freedom from 1st Amendment

One branch of government

Describe one amendment to the constitution 

One reason colonists came to America

Main concern of the US during the cold war

How old do you have to be to vote

 

I answered all those and we went over the N400 application. 

 

She then informed me that I had done well and handed me the N652 form. She said I should get a letter informing me of the oath ceremony within 2 weeks. And actually today my online status got updated - that my oath letter has been mailed!! So I'm just waiting for the letter with the date, time and place.

I felt it was a really positive experience overall.
