Adjustment of Status Question

Hello, I'm asking for another friend... Here's the situation, (it's a different friend from my other post) my friend got married to a USC and the guy refused to process the adjustment of status so she can't go to work or go anywhere. She can't have friends and if she meets new friends, the guy hits her and the most severe case was the guy pointed a gun at her. During their biggest fight, the guy said "nobody else can have you, I'd have to kill you first before you can leave" - My friend scared for her life, ran away and went to Boston to stay with a friend. She wanted to go home, but the guy won't buy her the ticket home... months later, she met somebody else and they're now in a relationship. He's willing to pay for her adjustment of status, but I reckon it doesn't work that way.

I informed her, I think you're breaking the law and you might get deported ... but I'm not entirely sure. I just know that this is not allowed. (IDK why they are in these kind of possessive relationships.)

So the questions are the following:

*Can she adjust status in some other way with the assistance of an immigration lawyer?

*What kind of trouble is she facing?

*What's her next best move?

TIA!

How did she get to the US.

She would need to divorce, go home and her new beau can sponsor her, is she still in status, If not how long has she overstayed.

Well the fact that you are having to do the asking very much suggests that this is not a diy case and your best bet is to make sure they appoint a competent Lawyer, well two, Divorce and Immigration.
