Guys. I'm freaking out. I thought i had everything i needed but they want more.

Back story: 5 years ago i suffered a severe bout of depression that ended up with me voluntarily being admitted to hospital after a suicide attempt taking too many painkillers. It was dumb. I was in for a couple of weeks. I was only on anti depressants for a couple of months after and have been completely in the clear for 4.5 years.

I knew I was going to have ro fess up because of the hospitalisation and so got my doctor to write a letter saying I was no longer depressed and not at risk of harming myself or others. Supposedly the magic words. But its not enough. :(  They want psych reports and detailed report about my health since and now I'm freaking that the stuff i told them wont match because i was freaki ng out during the medical,  and honestly that time of my life is pretty hazy. And i forgot to tell the doctor that it was partially due to food intolerances. I just. I panicked.

It was 5 years ago. :( I'm so scared it's now going to ruin the rest of my life. I don't even know if my doctors surgery has all the info they want. :(

Hey. Stop.  Don't worry about it.  I read a post that she had to go through the same due to self-inflicted injuries.  During her medical check up, she was also advised to see a psychiatrist.  And everything went well.  So relax.  Breathe.  Be positive.  You're going to be ok. :)

Thankyou. Needed to hear that. We just seem to be hitting every single road block possible. I havent seen any sort of mental health professional since 2013. Havent needed to!  The dr said he just wanted stuff from my gp but i have no idea what is in my hospital psych reports and i think i messed up when i told them how long i was hospitalised because after iwas discharged i admitted myself to a private clinic for a few weeks to really get a handle on things and i was so flustered i forgot to mention it and i dont want it to look like i was lying.

Okay...take a big deep breath, you will be okay. Just follow the steps, get your documents that are required. I have seen this many times on VJ. You might do a search for those cases. It is not a big deal and if you have a couple of stable years there is nothing to worry about. They just need conformation that you are no longer a danger to yourself or others. If you were addicted to pain killers that might be more of a concern...But always tell the truth.....good luck to you :)

So all the extra info from my GP still wasn't enough. They want a new psych assessment by my treating psychiatrist a gazillion years ago. No other psychiatrist is acceptable. Because so long ago I am classed as a new patient and of course his books are closed. Even if weren't closed can't get an appointment until October. OCTOBER. My interview is next Tuesday. I was meant to be moving in October. :(

I don't even know if is a new proper assessment or just need some paperwork filled or what because all the info is in a sealed envelope that only the psych can open. I just. I don't know what to do. I am full blown freaking out. The clinic said if I bring in the paperwork they'll show it to him and he might be able to do something for me, but they aren't promising anything and I won't even have my hands on the documentation until Wednesday at the earliest.

What's worse is that the doctor who did my medical was supposed to have called me Thursday last week about all this. The receptionist only phoned today to double check my address for the paperwork. :/

I am definitely not recommending Dr Okraglik right now.

This journey is tough for everyone and it never goes as planned. When I started my journey I was like "This is only going to take a few months, we'll be approved by Christmas!" It took about 9 months just to get our NOA2... So even though it feels like everything sucks right now realizing this will take time... It will be okay. One day you'll be reunited with the person you love and this long journey is going to feel like it was a piece of cake.

Go to the interview on Tuesday bring what needs to be done. You can totally do that even though they don't have your medical. They will make a preliminary decision and wait for your medical to show up. Hopefully your doctor can help you out before October. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! But regardless if it's going to take days, weeks or months, you will be okay! You'll get through this! And just as a friendly reminder: do not book any plane tickets before visa is in hand, don't make any plans. We see so many people saying "I thought I'd have my visa by such and such date now my plane tickets is bought and I can't go anywhere".

Good luck with everything!

Have no intention of booking anything until i finally have it in hand, it's just...it has already been 19 months since last saw each other and once consulate has my passport I'm stuck until they make a decision.  Just needed this one thing to go smoothly. I will be unemployed by the end of October (thats just how the contract worked out). Really really cant wait much longer than that. :(
