Hello all,

We were approved by the USCIS (yay) and are currently waiting for the NVC to do their thing.  While waiting, we are getting the documentation together for the upcomming interview.  I have looked everywhere and read the consulate specific instructions already but I want to exact.

What documents need to be certified (apostillado) for the K1 interview, if any.  My fieance is concerned that some of the documnts will need the stamp and be validated; it is quite costly to do.  Can some one who has gone through the K1 in Juarez, Mexico already please clarify what documents, if any, were certified?

Thanks in advance!

NOTE: I posted this initally in the regional section and received no answer to the question.  Thanks!

While you wait for people who have gone through the Juarez embassy/consulate, check out this link: https://mx.usembassy.gov/visas/instructions-for-k-1k-2-visa-applicants/

Also, you might want to call NVC to request for your case number as well as IIN. That way you can track your case file on: https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

Congrats and all the best :)

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Costly for whom? In Mexico it was very, very cheap for us to get everything we needed. As you are a K-1 filer, you should only need originals of each of your birth certificates plus the police report. If you were previously married, you would also include the divorce decree. Do you mean providing a copy of your birth certificate with an Apostille attached? That isn't necessary. If you were to get married in Mexico, then yes, but you are working with the US government and you do not need an apostille for the document to be "valid" in this process.

Also, here is the Document Finder tool which helps you determine how to get originals of the requested civil documents: https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/MX.html

Thank you both for your answers.

I was pretty sure it wasn't reqired, but my fieance was insitant I double check.

I did get my NVC case number on Monday!  We have our ds-160 filled out and saved but I am not sure when we should submit/pay for it.  Do I send it now or do I wait for the case to make it's way to the embassy?  The status of my case is "at NVC" and has been there since Monday afternoon.

Thanks again!
