Send I-130 to Phoenix or Chicago from California

Dear all,

 

we are confused because it says clearly on the internet side that if you live in California, we should send the I-130 petition to Phoenix. If I remember correctly, though, it said somewhere here in this forum that all petitions should go to Chicago? 

 

Please advise. My guess is this is a stupid question... we just don't want to make any mistakes and cause delays.

Hi R&OC,

 

This is not a stupid question. You should always refer to the website, as addresses can change at any time.

 

https://www.uscis.gov/i-130-addresses

 

As of right now, if you are filing the I-130 ALONE, you should send it to Phoenix. If you are filing it concurrently with an I-485, you should send it to Chicago.

 

Please check the website carefully, as even the Chicago addresses are different. Hope that helps!

Just seconding the above.  For a visa case, Phoenix.  For an concurrent filing of I-130 and I-485 to adjust status from within the US, the specific Chicago address for that, not the Chicago address for I-130 in a visa case.  Study instructions carefully including the specific context.  Doing so, is critical to your ultimate success.
