I submitted my I-129F application last April for my fiance, and so I'm still in the waiting game for the NOA2. I also used my US Passport as proof of citizenship in the I-129F Form and had copied every single page and had sent it in with the application, I was aware that my passport expired in 20 Aug 2018 then.

Well anyway, to make the long story short, I just got back from the Philippines 2 weeks ago, and while I was in the Airplane, I looked at my US passport expiration and saw 20 August, and thought to myself, "omg I need to renew my passport ASAP before my next trip to the Philippines in 23 August" so upon arriving California, I went to USPS and renewed my passport, which was last week. Anyway, last night while talking to my fiance on the phone, I had a random flash back about my passport expiration and pulled up a digital copy of my passport and saw the expiration said 20 Aug 2018. Two weeks ago when I was in the airplane, I was under the impression that it was 20 Aug 2017 (which is a stupid part on my end)

My question to you guys now is, will UCSIS verify my citizenship by inputting my passport number onto their system? and what if they verified it and saw that the passport agency had cancelled it due to the fact that I renewed it and that fact that they will want to ask for a new copy of my passport? Will I get an RFE for this?

I renewed my passport mid-process. Didn't affect me...

If, for some strange reason, they feel that an expired passport does not prove citizenship (let's face it, it could happen, they are free to nitpick), then you will probably get an RFE for it. Keep in mind though that it's really not a big deal. You answer the letter quickly, scan a new bio-page, and in a few weeks you're on your way again. One huge misconception is that RFEs are the end of the line. On the contrary, they allow you time to make things right without being denied.

Did you renew your passport while waiting for the NOA2? Or did you renew after you guys got the NOA2?

Immediately before getting NOA2.

In fact, I never once even considered it would be an issue. We DID get an RFE (second one at that point), but it was not for the passport.

In my case though, I HAD to renew it as I realized it would not be valid for the required time after I entered the United States.

wow what two RFEs did you guys get if you dont mind me asking?

also, since you stated "after I entered the United States" my case is different from yours, since I believe you are the beneficiary. I'm the petitioner and used my passport to prove my US Citizenship. Just wanted to know if USCIS uses the passport number to verify citizenship, probably by now my passport number that i used in lieu of my citizenship is now "cancelled" since its now renewed.
