Fusion is not clearly a left leaning firm. The opposition research on Trump thst led to the Steele dossier was was started by Republican candidates in the primary.

Where did you learn that fusion set up the meeting.?

According to Donald jr...he came to the meeting expecting dirt on Hillary.

They sound pretty much in the MDL to me and others.  As to a GOP candidate paying for their information, that is plausible under the enemy of my enemy mentality.  Who best to go after dirt on Trump than a left leaning research firm?

Oppo research is a common and accepted tool.  If Trump was smart he would have done it on himself.  You already shopped the Paul Sperry link above and I shot it down in flames( on the 26th)

Kellyanne De Vil on CNN this morning was embarrassing trying to defend the Trump Jr story. She was full of deflections, distractions, there was so much spin she ended up going around in circles and getting herself all tied up in knots. I suppose it helps getting paid a six figure salary to spout that nonsense.

So what was Donald Jr. doing?  Sounds like they wanted a little opposition research and when it turned into an immigration discussion related to the Magnitsky Act, the meeting was ended.

Sounds like a lot of nothing to me, but then again I am not obsessed.

What is wrong with a woman making a six figure salary?  Sounds pretty sexist to me.

Donald Trump Jr. in legal danger for Russia meeting about Clinton dirt

GOP and Democratic campaign operatives also refute idea that such a meeting was normal practice during an election.

By DARREN SAMUELSOHN

07/10/2017 01:58 PM EDT

Donald Trump Jr. is in a legal danger zone following his acknowledgment that he met during the heat of the 2016 presidential campaign with a Russian lawyer with Kremlin ties who offered to deliver damaging information about Hillary Clinton.

Democratic and Republican lawyers and political operatives alike say President Donald Trump’s oldest son’s explanations about the meeting last June are way out of step with common campaign practices when dealing with offers for opposition research.

But perhaps far more important, his statements put him potentially in legal crosshairs for violating federal criminal statutes prohibiting solicitation or acceptance of anything of value from a foreign national, as well as a conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Politically, by discussing such a sensitive topic that could prove embarrassing if revealed, Trump Jr. and the other Trump campaign officials in the room for the meeting with Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya, including Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort, may have also exposed themselves to future blackmail threats, the legal experts said.

Trump Jr. first described the Veselnitskaya meeting in a Saturday statement to the New York Times, framing it as a discussion about a program for adoption of Russian children that the Kremlin cancelled to retaliate for a U.S. law targeting Russian human rights abusers. But Trump Jr. expanded on his explanation on Sunday, saying the Trump Tower meeting was initially presented to him as a chance to obtain opposition materials about Clinton.

In his Sunday statement, Trump Jr. said Veselnitskaya only gave “vague, ambiguous” statements during their 20 to 30-minute meeting and she didn’t have any “meaningful information” about Clinton. Trump Jr. also said he didn’t know the name of the Russian lawyer before their meeting.

Trump Jr. sought Monday to quell the political firestorm by criticizing media coverage about it and insisting what he did was not unusual for someone in the midst of a presidential campaign. He also emphasized that the meeting “went nowhere.”

So how does that square with Fusion and using a foreign operative in getting opposition research?

Is that what Don Jr was doing ? oppo research? At first Kushner omitted the meeting from his listings of foriegn contacts then added it so folks started asking , and then Don Jr said it was something about adoptions but now he says as soon as the adoption thing came up he bailed because he was looking for the dirt on Hillary... who knows what to believe?

What is funny is that the story is nothing,,but you seemed to be tooling up for a battle by repeating some fairly arcane conspiracy theory stuff.

Did you ever locate the source that said Fusion was behind contacting Donald Jr set up this meeting?

Here is another link as Fusion was representing the same clients that this Russian lawyer was representing.
