Didn't have to...i waited 2 years to file because I was working here lol so we took our time and I got the 10yr grrencard...we are married 4yrs! Yup no problem at all:) just showed pics of trips we took together and w family.

Interview was 10min...notbinf came up about my overstay or unauthorized work! Approved :) got the 10yr green card too. And lawyer didn't care we filed taxes together and had joint phone bill but she didn't ask for anythinf...we look like a couple and that is the main thing...ppl need to get their facts right!

Good for you. The OP is going to have to go through ROC at some point which requires way more co-mingling than the GC application did.

i guess in 2 years they can figure that out.. by that time he may have a job or who knows maybe he will leave the USA all together.. or maybe they will divorce.. also being from the UK they arent as heavily scrutinized... i knoe my friend married a guy from bali and they didnt tell their family either and were approved.  anyone can go get a joint account if they were in a fake marriage and then delete the names.  the IO knows this and because of that they dont put that much weight on it.

because they know it is easy to go to a bank and put someone on your joint account! people that do scam marriages do this all the time!  seconly lots of people in real marriages do not want to comingle finances...i know people that did scam marriages and they all put each other names on joint accounts and then divorced dand took it right off.. i have read posts where the people got denied GC and the IO have said anyone can have a joint account with someone

like i said, i didnt do any of that and still got approved.  IMO they want to see more pictures with families and friends.

People need to chill...i never changed my name, don't have co mingle anything w my husband bc I make more then him and he is terrible w finances and we didn't tell anyone we got married until after. U will be approved...yes we had family vacations together duh! U can go on a vacation as a couple! I don't see any red flags...please relax and stay off vj...people on here can act crazy sometimes! My friend also got married and neither of their families knew and they are ok. Being from the UK u won't be scrutinized as much as of hers. Just go relax. Hang our w ur wife and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

You probably lived in the same house, had a lease, utilities, etc. They go between the wife's father and the wife's mother house. No lease, no utilities, nothing! No evidence.

Yes that is true...i wasn't on the lease but phone bill, driver license, taxes for 3 years were filed together. House keys together.

You need something in someone's name...plus the OP both his parents are living in california...:/ that can be problems.

This is different and is mainly the wish of my wife. She doesn't want these people to know. If she wanted her parents to know then I would tell them.

A doctors code of ethics is completely different, and judging me as a possible future doctor is completely irrelevant to this topic.

I would be very hurt if my husband was not proud to be married with me and share the news with his close family; being the "dirty secret" that can't be disclosed, lying everyday about the real nature of our relationship.   Obviously, she is close to her parents since you guys are living with them.

If I was helping a friend circumvent immigration rules, I would also keep quiet and not sleep with them.

On another note, please be careful about what you post online;  usernames and pictures can be searched and members have been burned before.

Okay thanks, but I haven't said anything that would get me in trouble, I've been incredibly honest. I've stated that we love each other and we got married for the reason of loving each other and so that we can have a life together in the USA.

Anyway, I do understand that she isn't ready to tell her family. It does make me a bit sad, but I'm okay with it because I need to think about her feelings - not just my own. She wants to tell them eventually though, she has made that clear. Our original plan was to not tell them, and when we have our wedding in the future they'd think it was our first marriage so that we didn't hurt their feelings. However other members have made clear that this could have legal implications in regards to taxes and her health insurance, so we're going to have to tell her parents sooner than we had planned.

Dude, everyone has been telling you: YOU NEED EVIDENCE OF BONA FIDE MARRIAGE

USCIS does not care that you love each other! That is not evidence.

If you don't get this, I don't see how you are ever going to be a medical doctor. You cannot even read!!!

To be specific no where is it stated that love is required at all.

Anyway assuming the Parents are not really stupid how do you intend explaining how you get to visit the US for so long and will then be able to stay, work get a DL etc?

If you do get a home visit then they tend to be carried out at unusual hours. Double fun if you are not staying at the Parent whose address you have used at the time.

They do not know all the times I'm in the US. I'm not very close with my parents and I don't speak to them very often. We'll tell her parents in a few months then, once I get my EAD and have a job.

Any other evidence you'd recommend we get?

Just the usual stuff any married couple would be expected to have, there is not a one size fits all list.

Well we don't have any bills since we live with her parents. She has an insurance plan for her car, has a lease on her car and that's about it.

We want to live with her parents for 2-3 years and save up so that we can get a house with a mortgage.

I could drop my cell plan and join hers with her father. Do you think that'll help?

Also, could get the joint bank account with a joint savings, but separate checking. I previously mentioned she spends a lot of money on clothes and unnecessities, so it'd be better for us to have separate checkings but to share a savings. Would that help? Or would it do more harm than good by having separate checkings?

So what do you suggest they do when they realize they need a financial sponsor?

Not telling the parents won't be the issue but I don't think he will be fine unless he understands how important it is to get evidence for bona fide marriage for AOS interview and ROC and so on (when he says they can file taxes single)

Your problem is not the parents not know about immigration (unless home visit of course) but otherwise that won't effect you.

But you have to do study as married people like taxes as married, finances, insurance and so on... (It's needed for immigration proposes also to show it's a real marriage)

2 hours ago, missileman said:

That means absolutely nothing!!!  They want to see co-mingled finances, not that you use the same bank!

and another thing......by getting married, your wife is probably NO LONGER covered by her father's healthcare policy.....

Well they schedule the home visit right? And that's for very suspicious cases? Ours is not suspicious.

Home visits are surprise. Do you think they want to schedule it so that people can fake that they are living together?

Her mother agreed to support me anyway. I told her the evidence was for immigration forms so that I'm allowed to live here and work here, which is true. She didn't ask questions and it was fine.

So you lied to her and made her sign the form i-864? That sounds fraudulent.
