K-1 Adjustment of Status, EAD, and AP forgot documents

Hello All, 

 

My wife moved here from Turkey on a fiance visa in April of this year. Today we mailed the i-485(Greencard), i-765(EAD), and i-131(AP) documents to the USCIS lockbox in Chicago for adjustment of status. To my horror, after sending the doc's I realized I forgot to include a copy of my naturalization certificate along with my i-864, and 2 passport photos for both the EAD and the AP. I also forgot to include a copy of my wife's passport and visa page for the EAD and AP. All other documents were included properly.

 

Since we only sent out our app today, I'm trying to decide whether I should go to UPS tomorrow and send out the missing docs with a letter explaining to the USCIS why they have received additional documentation(since it will likely arrive at the same time if I express ship it) or if I should just wait for the RFE doc that will likely come with or after the NOA. Looking for advice form anyone on here who could provide it!

Wait for a RFE, chances are your next mail will not meet up with your petition even if you send it to the exact place.

Too late now but why not write out a list and checking it twice or 10 times and check off everything, going over it with a fine tooth comb
People get in way too much of a hurry to mail that thing off.

I did use a checklist, unfortunately in my hurried state(very true by the way I rushed it) I missed the fine toothed comb part. The copy of the naturalization fell out of all the documents I put together. 

In terms of the other documents, I made the stupid assumption that since both the passport size photos and copies of her passport and visa page were included in the i-485, they did not need to be included in the i-765 and i-131. 

UPS could guarantee the same delivery times, if i express ship(since the first set of docs is guaranteed to arrive by 3:00 pm on monday), but you're likely right in that I should just wait for the RFE instead of putting ourselves into a position where some confusion could occur. Maybe you could call the service you used to ship your package and try to intercept it?  They could send it back to you and you could properly prepare the package.

You can try to have it catch up with a cover letter explaining everything but small chance it will meet up so make sure you have everything ready for a potential RFE even if you send it now.

Either they will send your whole package back or they will issue an RFE. to be on the safe side just wait until you get either one.

Agreed, I had my package sent back to me 10 days after I mailed it.

I don't think that this is smart, I have seen many cases where they send the package back, if they miss something in the package that is not enough to start the case they will send it back I think the best move here is to wait, they will either send the package back or they will make a RFE.

If they send you package back you should be prepared to print and sign everything once again but you can send the same checks submitted with your original package, in my case, since I had copies of the package originally sent exactly like I sent it (I basically made 2 packages, one to send and one to keep) it took me one day to put the "new" package together...actually it was very good that they sent me the package back, I found so many little mistyping errors and non filled areas when doing it over again that you could not even imagine.

Since you still have time, give it a week or so to actually make a decision.
