If this labor market couldn't get us even half way there I honestly don't see what would right now. Especially with the labor market already being very close to full employment which means there's alot more room down than up. The way I see it the only way it could happen is after a crisis, as part of the recovery, for maybe the first year or two.

To me it points to a lack of fundamental ecomonic literacy that everyone around the president should be able to demonstrate if they have the role of advisor. 

 

As you pointed out we are at full employment  (although I think many folks are due for raises or lateral promotions) We are moving toward protectionist measures, the dollar is shrinking in buying power  (good for exports but bad for cheap appliances)

We cannot see feasible tax cuts and i dont see an infrastructure package soon.

 

On the plus side energy exports are ramping up and Trump has rolled back some regs giving some industries a one time boost.

Only thing I disagree about in that post is the dollar; It has been in a steady(I keep bringing up the D word - deflation) uptrend for over a decade now despite everyone calling its demise time and time again. I don't see the deflationary scenario changing to an inflationary one any time soon.
