My wife and I had the interview on Wednesday, July 5. My wife is the petitioner US born citizen.  We both felt as though the interview went really well and with that being said, I mean the consul it was actually laughing with us during the interview.
Where I think the hick up came is, I was denied entry back in 2014 will be doing while I was in the visa waiver program. I never bothered trying to go back.
I've since met my wife, married etc. etc. and we begin the process. The consulate did convey to us that she did not anticipate a problem but she just needed to check the turnaround time. We are assuming she means turnaround time from the time I was denied entry to the current time.
Anyone ever experienced anything like this any and all comments/ experiences  are appreciated .
We  are hoping to get the approval as the embassy did keep my passport but we are very concerned because I did not get the actual approval the day of the interview

Italy isn't Morocco.  AP is a catch-all term that likely means something entirely different in this case than yours.  However, there is no time limit for AP and it's a black hole as far as checking status goes.

To the OP, the turnaround time is the AP turnaround time, not the time from an entry denial to immigrant visa interview.  They could also be investigating the reason for the entry denial, which you haven't explained.  If you were denied entry because of a previous overstay, then they may be determining whether you are subject to a ban requiring a hardship waiver.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

Hi guys,

I sent an email to the embassy to ask about my case, and this is the answer i got.

any ideas ???

----------

We are writing in response to your inquiry concerning your immigrant visa application.  We appreciate your patience in awaiting a response.

We have checked our consular records and learned that your husband’s immigrant visa application was refused under INA (Immigration and Nationality Act) section 221(g) and is still undergoing administrative processing here at the Consulate, in order to verify his qualifications for this visa.  Administrative processing can last up to 60 days, but in some instances, it can take significantly longer.

We realize that these extended time periods can cause frustration and we are sensitive to the fact that the purpose of the immigrant visa program is to facilitate legitimate travel to the United States.  Nonetheless, the Consulate General, like all U.S. embassies and consulates, must adjudicate visas in accordance with the provisions of the law, and, in some cases, this involves extensive administrative processing.  While we cannot predict when the processing of your husband’s visa will be completed, please be assured that the Consulate and the Department of State are aware of your concerns and will do all we can to see that the application is reconsidered as soon as administrative processing of his case has been completed.

We regret that our response cannot be more detailed at this point, but we hope this information is helpful.

Sincerely,
