Parents of the USC - AOS from B2 visa

We mailed our concurrent AOS filings for both parents to Chicago, now waiting for e-mails and SMS messages and NOAs through the mail. We sent two packages (for a mother and a father) in one envelope, hoping that this way we have better chances of cases processed closer to each other. Both parents' B2 status is current. From what we've been reading, our cases seem to be quite straightforward ones as we don't have any missing evidence like certificates of births and marriages; the petitioner's income is sufficient to sponsor/support parents, etc.

We are trying to figure out how long the process is likely to take. We (secretly) hope that we could be approved without interviews. Is it something completely unrealistic to expect, or do we have some (even slight) chances, given that we don't need to prove that our child-parent relationships are bona fide :)

Most feedback and discussions here appear to be about marriage-based AOS. We would appreciate any thoughts and insights regarding the AOS experiences for parents, especially from those members who've gone through this process themselves.

Interviews are must for a number of reasons.

Why would you not want an interview if your case is straight forward? Regardless, no way to bypass it.

ETA: You have probably heard about people not having interviews for AOS from a K1 visa. That can happen from time to time. The reason being is that the K1 recipient had the interview in their country. Adjusting from a tourist visa is different. a B2 visa is NOT an immigrant visa and has no immigrant intent. So the interview they had for the B2 was not related to them migrating to the US nor the relationship between a qualifying relative. because of that, they will have to have another interview now that they are adjusting status. Hope that clears it up for you.

Thank you NuestraUnion! Now it's clear that interviews are required in our case. We are not saying that we don't want interviews, the only consideration was that if interview is not required, then the timeline could be shorter and the process finalized faster.

Related question: are we going to have two separate interviews (one for each parent) or USCIS may schedule one interview together for both parents?

Hi, that would be fine with me. It seems that I can't edit the thread heading to better reflect that change, perhaps moderators can do that.

Just to clarify if this is turned into a July 2017 filers thread: we filed all four forms - I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131.

It would be best if a new thread for the July filers would be started. The original start of this thread would cause some confusion to others just opening it. I am going to lock this thread and a July filer is welcome to start a thread.
