Waiting for Interview Date vs Scheduling Yourself

Hello,

 

I read somewhere that we can schedule our own visa interviews at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/ 

Is this true for CR1 applications or do I have to wait for NVC to schedule my interview?

for CR1, NVC does the scheduling
