During the CR-1 process, my wife failed her medical due to spots on her lungs found during chest X-Ray.  She had Sputum testing done and it came negative.

We know for a fact she does not have TB as it turned out to be lung cancer and she had a lobe removed.

Wife is here now on 2 year GC.  We were contacted by Department of Health that follow up testing is needed.  So they want a Dr. visit, chest X-ray and a Quantiferon TB gold test done here in the USA.

Has anyone on VJ have to deal with something similar?  Is it a requirement for follow up on immigration?  Would not doing it affect ROC?

Appreciate any feedback.

If they ask you to do a follow up, you should do it. There is no way around it. Besides, the tests won't do her any harm, it will just cost money.

It could affect ROC and citizenship later. Remember also that permanent residents have to be of good moral character and disregarding an official letter could hurt that; particularly because your wife could pose a health risk to other people You are sure she doesn't have TB, and 99.9% she doesn't because it ended up being cancer, but the Department of Health is probably being thorough. Either there was something they didn't like about the medical or they do random checks of people who has had to do sputum tests. Negative results can be a product of false negatives which is actually higher than people think. The fact that a test is 99.9% times correct does not mean it is wrong 0.01% of the times. The false negative can actually be pretty high.

Anyway, they are doing their job.
