Good day,

We are about to start the process for the K1 Visa for my fiancé to come back with me to the US. we are trying to be prepared as possible and flinding no information as to work eligibility once we are all approved and enter the US before the wedding date and green card application to change status.

Any information or advice would be useful

Thank you .

The beneficiary cannot work until after they receive Employment Authorization Documentation (EAD), which can be filed along with the application to adjust status. It will need to be filed after the wedding, so they will not be able to work before then. I believe the EAD processing times are around 3-4 months right now.

If it's important for you to work right away then maybe look into the spouse visa CR-1.

You will allowed to work right away. Otherwise as the other VJ'er says it will take awhile before you can work.

depending on how quickly you guys get married also and sending in the AOS package with the AP/EAD included then 3-4 months after.

Also many states you can't get a DL until you get the EAD.

Yep, that is one of the drawbacks of the K1, you have to wait to work.

If if you know you need to obtain a job sooner than later then what you can do is marry asap after arrival to get the ball rolling on filing for work authorization/green card.

Also be advised that the AOS, needed after the marriage, will cost you a pretty penny as well. If money is the reason for the need to work ASAP. I would suggest looking into the CR-1 route. Current EAD wait times appear to get closer to 4 months after filing the AOS.
