How long does the Consular in Ciudad Juarez take to process a turned in document?  I really can use some help, my husband and I are very nervous that something is wrong.  My husband had his interview on June 19, 2017.

The interview went very well and was going to be approved, except they wanted my original birth certificate.  They gave him a blue form, 221g, with the details of sending his passport and my birth certificate.  My birth certificate did not have my hospital listed because my name was changed when I was an infant.  I had to get the original one in Austin and then sent it to the consular.  What a mess it was to get it in Austin, TX just because my hospital was not listed.  It took several days to get it to Mexico and then send it via DHL, received on June 26th.  On June 28th they only updated that it is being processed for one last time.  It still has not been approved, we are just waiting for approval.

Everyday his case status was updated from June 26th through June 28th.  It has stayed the same, with an updated status on June 28, 2017 and it still says Refused.

Does anyone know how long it will take for it to be approved?  This has taken much longer than we expected.  Even after approval it will take another 2-3 to get the package from the DHL.  We are getting anxious that something is wrong.

U know if they asked for a copy of the affidavit of support? We just sent it but made no copy

They did ask for a copy even after it was sent, we had the copy from our lawyer with tax returns in our packet.  I think it really depends on the person you get at the interview.

One question was your husband already living here in the USA with you or you petitioned for him while he was out of the country..?

My original birth certificate was provided.  The problem was that the hospital was not listed due to my naming being changed as an infant and my father being in the military at my time of birth.  This is not common, so they made get another one from Austin with my hospital added.

Hi I am going through a similar process, my husband had his interview and was issued a slip requesting my birth certificate with specific information such as "hospital" or "doctor"; problem is I was born with a midwife and don't really have anything signed from the lady that delivered me. I am also thinking in my situation, I sent a birth certificate but it was not the original that was made copies off and sent to the visa center initially. Since this happened, I've sent my husband the correct original that was made copies off and sent an additional one requested from Austin TX as well as a verification letter from the state of my birth certificate registration and the only other thing I could find linking my birth address to my midwife, a print out from the city in which I was born listing her name and address, which is listed in my birth certificate, as registered with the state. Currently the information is on it's way to Juarez and we're just hoping this will be sufficient to complete his eligibility process. Hope things work out for you and have you received any further information on his case?

Hello,

How stressful and frustrating!  I pray that everything goes well for you and your husband.  It was awful while waiting, and it did make us closer.  After we turned in the documents, it took about 4 days for it to update in the system as being received.  Then it took another month for anything to begin moving along and for the status to change.  The visa was issued and he is home. :)

It took a month from the day they received it for him to get his visa?

Yes! Very much stressful! I am heading to Austin this week in hopes to get this resolved, I'm having a very similar issue to yours, my name was corrected and my last name was changed as paternity was established, later on when I was about 12 year old, when this took place the original information from the attendant/registrant was lost, instead what I show in my birth certificate is my mothers information as she was who signed the affidavit when the change took place. Is there any tips you can give me when I'm at Austin, I am visiting the Vitals Statistics Office, but other than that I am very much lost as to what I need to look for. I appreciate  any help I can get from you. In the meantime it's been 6 long weeks, my husband is very overwhelmed and I am just hoping I can get him back in time for the holidays my children and I really miss him.

I am sorry if this is late!  Advice for Austin...Plan to stay all day that day, and to bring cash.  I cannot remember how much I paid, I think it was around $60.00 because I asked for two copies.  There is an extra fee if you pay with a debit or credit card.  I was told that they had to go into the vault to find mine and that it would normally take 2-3 days to get it.  I had to pay extra for them to get me the birth certificate within the day.  I was there early, by 8:30 a.m., and I was told it would be ready by 3 pm.  I explained that I would need to drive back to get my children from school.  They took my number to call me when my birth certificate was ready, and this was helpful.  I ended up driving around Austin, waiting until 3 pm.  They called me around 3:05 pm, it was a long day!  There is a huge delay in mailing it, straight to Mexico.  I was told by my lawyer that it takes a long time to mail anything from the US to Mexico, because there are extra security checks.  Plus the mailing system in Mexico meant that it could get to my husband very slowly.  If at all possible, if you know someone in El Paso, or near Juarez, who can walk over the birth certificate, I would recommend that.  We happened to have a friend who did this for us and it cut down the delivery time.  Best of luck.  I hope you and your family are doing okay during this tough time.
