Hello everyone,

I'm planning to submit N-400 application soon (US citizen spouse), and have a question about Part 2 Question 3 "Other Names(s) You have Used Since Birth (include nicknames, aliases, and maiden name if applicable)".

- I have a nickname, which is not related to my first name and is unofficially used among family, friends, and sometimes coworkers.

- I use only my legal name in official documents, education, employment, credit cards, bank accounts, utility bills, grocery member cards, etc.

- My nickname shows on Facebook together with my full name. For example, Jane Doe (Jenny)

- When I did AOS and ROC, the forms back then asked about "Other Names Used (including maiden name), so I didn't include my nickname in the forms. At that time my nickname also appeared in the evidence I submitted such as Facebook photos, X-Mas cards, affidavit (family members mentioned both my full name and my nickname in affidavit). Since I didn't mention my nickname in the forms, I just wrote a short explanation with my evidence that this is my nickname. No RFE both times.

Given the above information

1. Do I need to mention my nickname in the N-400 form?

2. If so, would it be any issue since I didn't mention it in the AOS and ROC forms?

3. If so, do I have to state in the form that this is a nickname? For example, in the section, Given Name (First Name): NICKNAME; Jenny

4. Would it be an issue if I don't mention my nickname in the N-400 form?

I would greatly appreciate your answers or if you could share your experience.

Thank you very much :)

Hey! Looks like your N-400 must have been approved since so much time has elapsed after asking this question -- what did you end up doing about your nickname situation, and did you have any trouble?
