Three months for a marriage certificate? I thought ours took a long time (six weeks!) You can't file the application until you have the proper certificate, or they'll either give you an RFE (if they're feeling generous) or send it right back to you for correction (if they're not)... just get everything else ready, and then put the packet in the mail the day your marriage cert. shows up. They don't expect the impossible of you!

STAGE 1 - Applying for K1 (15 September 2003) to K1 Approval (13 July 2004) - 9 months, 29 days (303 days)

STAGE 2A - Arriving in US (4 Nov 2004) to AOS Application (16 April 2005) - 5 months, 13 days (164 days)

STAGE 2B - Applying for AOS to GC Approval - 9 months, 4 days (279 days)

STAGE 3 - Lifting Conditions. Filing (19 Dec 2007) to Approval (December 11 2008)

STAGE 4 - CITIZENSHIP (filing under 5-year rule - residency start date on green card Jan 11th, 2006)

*N400 filed December 15, 2011

*Interview March 12, 2012

*Oath Ceremony March 23, 2012.

The AOS is far easier to do than your K1 petition. All you need to do is fill in a few forms and send your marriage certificate and birth certificate and thats it! The conditions of the K1 is that you marry within 90 days which you have done. There is no set timescale to send in your AOS so breath easy and sit tight whilst you wait for your marriage certificate to come.

Thanks that helps me too! I'm getting ready to file also but there are lots of forms to go with the I-485. Hope i get them all. :)
