The first-ever mass-market Tesla should roll out of the factory this week.

CEO Elon Musk tweeted late Sunday that the company's Model 3 car "passed all regulatory requirements for production two weeks ahead of schedule. Expecting to complete SN1 on Friday," using an abbreviation for serial number one.

Musk also tweeted that production would increase "exponentially," with 100 cars in August, more than 1,500 in September and 20,000 per month in December. Musk also announced a July 28 "handover party" for the first 30 buyers of the Model 3.

As NPR has reported, the fully electric Model 3 is expected to cover a range of 215 miles on one charge and, most notably, sell at a sticker price of $35,000 (or $27,500 after federal electric car tax credits). Until now, Tesla has sold only luxury cars at luxury prices, beginning — on the low end — at roughly double the Model 3's price

This will be a big test for Tesla as I have said in an earlier thread.  The Model 3 buyers will be a different class than those who purchased the S or X, so Tesla will need to do some quick learning.  One thing I wonder is will the Model 3 owners get the same perks as those that purchase the more expensive models such as pick-up servicing, free charging at super chargers, etc.  These questions may have been answered, but so far I haven't read the responses.  The other question I have is will Tesla be increasing their network of superchargers?

I also wonder if the S and X owners experience SCs full of Model 3's if they will demand a priority service for themselves?

The supercharger network is scheduled to triple.

They are committed to 1 day leadtime on repairs by the end of 2017.

Ranger services are supposed to be included. Oil changes are still free.

So are the 3 owners going to get free charging?

Isn't the free oil changes enough?

I am just curious.  My assumption is that Tesla is paying for the electricity through the higher costs of the S and X, and I wonder if that is sustainable as the 3s start coming out.

Yes they get free charging up to 400khz. The new policy has the free charging folliwing the owner not the car.

Thanks for the link, but it still doesn't answer the Model 3 question.  Will the original owners also get the same free charging plan?

Not sure that is what it said.  This seems to be targeted at keeping Model S or X owners in a Model S or X.

In other words, a Tesla Model S or X owner who bought a new car since January 15, 2017, has free Supercharger access now and for any other Model S or X (not Model 3) that they decide to buy in the future. If they do decide to upgrade in the future, their current vehicle wouldn’t have free Supercharger access for the new owner.

After the last handful of years driving trucks and SUVs I'd have a really tough time going back to standard cars.. watching the market and hoping for a reasonable vehicle of this nature, though likely would be an SUV, looking for one with lots of room as its very likely we'll be having more kids in the next handful of years. I'd even go for an electric van.

I hear ya. Day to day we have an SUV, every once in a while when I am driving something else(rental, loaner, etc)...I feel like I'm on a little tikes riding right on the ground. Takes some getting used to for sure, and then getting used to again when you have your SUV back...

No any  orders of any  model after  jan 15 gets the same plan..acesss for anominal fee and credit for the first 1000 miles (400khz) . The model is really to extend the travel range and not be ypur primary energy source.  The major change is over the transfer of this right in the future.

Charging at home should cost 20 to 80 a month.
