NZ Police Clearance

Hi everyone

 

We called the Ministry of Justice last week to ask a few questions, and they told us that the form we were going to email to them wasn't going to continued starting this Monday. They said that the police clearance will now be requested from the police starting this week. I've been looking online though and cannot find any information now regarding this change. Does anyone know anything about this? Or have any experience??

I'm currently in the process of waiting for a Police Certificate that I requested through the US Consulate. If NZ Police have changed the procedure I may cry.

"If you have only lived in New Zealand and have not lived in any overseas country for more than 12 months, then you only need to complete and send us the NZ police authorization form.  If you have lived abroad, you must also apply for police certificates for that respective country and send the policer certificates to our office."

I had to apply to the Police Clearance department personally, the consulate can no longer request a police clearance letter on your behalf. 

You need to send them the form that is downloadable from their website, despite it saying the US isn't a country they accept the form for. 

 

I was told this the evening before my interview and it delayed me receiving my visa back by about a week because of the change.
