Hello everyone,

Few questions: My petition got accepted 2 weeks ago for the k-1 visa to bring my fiancee to the USA. I have not yet received any mail that my package was received by the NVC yet. So in the mean time I want to get a head start and complete the I-134.

1) On part one of the I-134 Affidavit of support it asks the the sponsor (me) to identify either citizenship or residency or status. What do i put? I am a US Citizen and got my passport through my parents who are naturalized. I have never applied for the certificate of citizenship(too expensive) and it asks for that number. What do i do? I only have a USA passport.

2) On part one of the I-134 Affidavit of support, it asks for the province. Do I leave this blank since I live in the USA?

3) Where am I support to send the I-134? Or do I email it to my fiancee to take to her interview?

Posted

1) Not sure.

2) Leave it blank.

3) Send a copy to your fiancee allowing with your tax transcripts and other relevant supporting documents, for her to bring to the embassy on her interview day.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but I figured I'd also post a question as I am also filling out the I-134 to obtain a K1 visa for my fiancee.

In the section after filling out information about dependents, there is a question that says "I have submitted a visa petition(s) to USCIS on behalf of the following persons." Do I fill in my fiancee's name again or is this referring to anyone other than my fiancee? I figured writing my fiancee's name again would be repetitive since she is already listed as the beneficiary in Part 2 and the fact that I've petitioned for a visa with USCIS was implied.

Also, the part about making specific contributions to support the named person in part 2, do I check off do not intend? My interpretation was that intending to make specific contributions was more for tourists who visit the US.

Thank you in advance for your help. This is my first post on VJ but this site has been immensely helpful in guiding me through this challenging process.

Please start your thread for your own questions. Thank you.

Yes, you should fill in the info about all people you have petitioned for, including your current fiance. I doubt it really matters, but always read the questions literally and take them seriously. :)

I followed the sample document here and checked "I intend" and provided the following in part 7:

Page: 4, Part 3, Item Number 38

N/A (K-1 Visa Process)

But I concur it shouldn't really matter. People have successfully checked "I do not intend" without issue.

It was my understanding that you should click "do not intend" because you're not making specific contributions if you are signing that you are taking full responsibility of the beneficiary therefore, will be making full contributions, no?

But I guess the question can be look at both ways!

ROC Filing:

4/21/2021 - Sent ROC Package via FedEx

4/22/2021 - FedEx package delivered and signed

5/11/2021 - Check cashed

5/14/2021 - Received NOA1 via mail (NOA1 date: 5/8/2021)

6/9/2021 -  Biometrics waived - Case updated to Fingerprints taken

I followed what was suggested here, but I agree that it shouldn't really matter as it doesn't particularly apply to a K-1 visa user. :)
