Thanks guys.

I just have a hard time sitting here wringing my hands thinking 'woe is me'. We know they haven't been updating things online. We know people don't update their VJ timelines. Why read into the worst possible scenario? Our days are coming. :)

Exactly

for July I'd expect some news in mail in the next two three weeks. And hopefully to see some rfes online. Not many, I just need a few to give me some clues on the possible dates. That's all I'm after now to know and guess....

Hi guys. Times are tense. I know there are still lots of cases before July that haven't been touched, but I think it's nice that we're still excited to see movement this month. It's my birthday today. I was hoping I'd know if we were going to move forward at this point. I'm emotionally exhausted with USCIS.

However. Tomorrow is another day. Not gonna let the bastards get me down.

Happy Bday @Jaquelly. 🎈🎂🎉

Exactly! Tomorrow is another day...

I wish you the best and hope your present (NOA2) comes Really really soon to you. 🎁

My application is going to take a year to POE and another year for AOS. I hope my fiance still wants to be with me after this horrible mess with our immigration processes. It doesn't make the USA seem like a very inviting place.

Hold up for a second here.  Can you please clarify your statement about it taking a year for AOS?  That's the part that's supposed to be about three months after the wedding and is the point at which our partners can start working legally, do I have that correct?

THAT IS NOW TAKING A YEAR AFTER MARRIAGE?

Guys?  Please tell me I'm missing something here.  I have a financial cushion to carry Tiger and me through several months, under the assumption that he'll be able to start looking for work about three months after we marry, and hopefully be employed not long after.  Is everyone here independently wealthy and supporting two (or more!) people on their one salary is not going to be a problem and that's why there isn't widespread panic?

I live in a studio that has a small mortgage, I live very financially prudently, no credit card debt, and my car is paid off.  But I'm only a civil servant making absolute ####### income and there's only so much further I'm going to be able to tighten up my spending.

I'm a Jan 18 filer but been lurking the forums for a while.

What I've read is yes, AOS takes about a year but when you file that, file EAD for employment authorization at the same time (it's free when adjusting from a K1). That will take 3 - 4 months and will allow him to work when it is approved.

You can also file AP if you think he will need to travel outside of the US while adjusting, same as EAD takes 3 - 4 months and is free when adjusting from a K1.

Hope that helps!

Bless your heart for responding so quickly; I was about to have a coronary.

I have, all along, been less educated than my partner on this entire process, and that's probably going to have to change now as we approach NOA2 time.

What are things I need to know about AOS taking that long?  I don't think he'll be traveling out of the US for awhile, so that's not a concern.  If he can start looking for work according to the approximate timeline I had in my head then that's not a concern, either, because I've been planning for that with my savings all along.  What are the other downsides and issues with AOS being a year?

You're welcome - we've only just started this process ourselves and it's certainly stressful! I'm the beneficiary for our side, though, so looked into when I could work before we applied - my fiance leaves it to me because he gets stressed too easily.

I haven't looked into the specifics of the AOS just yet, someone undergoing that might be able to offer a little more assistance but as far as I'm aware there shouldn't be too many? I think that's where it starts to vary state to state with driving licenses and things, though.

Sorry I can't be more help here!

Hey everyone!  I was thinking about visiting my fiancé for a few weeks as this is taking soooo long and to finalise some of our wedding plans. I just wanted to know if anybody had any trouble getting into the US or if they even asked any questions about the K1 being processed?

Thank you for this positivity :) I feel like there are so many negative people on here and it actually makes me feel more negative and have a negative attitude!! There are also plenty of wonderful positive people on here too, but your comment just stood out to me!

My fiancé visited me last month and was scarcely asked a thing beyond what he was coming to the U.S. for, and he certainly wasn't asked to produce any of the documents we'd prepared for him to be carrying as proof that he intended to return to Australia.  You should be fine!  (And a visit helps pass a big chunk of time in a pleasant way while we wait...)

That said, I recommend having all those documents with you, anyway.  Tiger brought: a letter from me stating he was visiting me for the holidays, a copy of his lease renewal, a copy of his car registration renewal, and a letter from his employer stating that he still had a position to return to.
