I remember when we first started this process I had a maximum of 5-6 months in mind.. and now we are looking at times similar to or matching the CR1.  Stay strong.  I'm just trying not to look at the Timeline estimations but it's a bit of an addiction at this point.

Yes... No worries, we have come so far, I am not giving you now. I love my fiance more than I have ever loved before. He inspires me to be a better person. There is no one else I'd rather be with.

If I had known it was going to be this long, we would've gone ahead and gotten married for the CR1. That way at least my FI could work once we arrive in the states, but it looks like he'll have even MORE waiting to do once we get there.

Does anyone know if there's a faster way to get advance parol than to apply for it when you begin AOS? My uncle recently found out he has stage 4 cancer and my mom is worried that I won't be there for his funeral.

I'm very sorry to hear about your Uncle.  Unfortunately I think the answer here will be, "Not really".   Advanced Parole is simply an advanced version of what is called "Parolled", where an alien has the ability to re-enter the country without a visa, and the general way of filing this is for aliens already inside of the US.  Granting of AP for aliens outside of the US is a "extraordinary situation".  You can view more about AP and its guidelines here:

https://www.uscis.gov/i-131 (Download the instructions for information)

You can also file an expedite for the Advanced Parole,  however I saw some cases recently where this was denied for Aunts and Uncles and such due to them not being direct family relations.  You can find expedite information here:

https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-processes-and-procedures/travel-documents/emergency-travel

I would warn you to be careful.. we also see a lot of people leaving the country while waiting for their AP and not realizing they then need to start again from scratch with a CR-1, and a new year wait begins.  Good luck my friend.

Ha Ha I might have to check that out. I usually watch K-Dramas and Chinese dramas to distract me. I rarely watch American TV. Recently I'm watching a Japanese drama on Netflix. It's more geared for teens, but hey, we are all teens at heart, right?

Painting cards sound so Romantic..............I Love homemade stuff for gifts because it comes from the heart!

Have you seen the Korean version of Good Doctor? I've seen some episodes of the American version but knowing there's a Korean, had to put it in my list!

I love giving out DIY gifts because aside from the money-saving factor, I can personalize according to the giftee ;)

My fiancée has always been patient but even he is starting to feel desperate. We are both frustrated and running out of money. There’s so many things he’s missing out on here that he always sounds so sad about when we talk about them (even little things like seeing the new Star Wars with me or going to holiday parties involving my friends which are now his too.) The most frustrating part is not having a thing to say regarding the status or an update. Just standstill since July. I know someday there will be a day where neither he nor I are going to sleep cold and alone but right now in this particular moment it feels so so far away. Sorry for the negativity. It’s 5am and I’m just so sad and desperate to this process to be finished :( (he’s in London and I’m in LA)

There's nothing I can say but that I understand.  I am in the same position as your fiancee is on many occasions...  Just be there for them as much as you can... I understand.  I'm sorry.  Stay strong for each other.  :(

Thanks! I’m usually a lurker but today I just felt so overwhelmingly hopeless that I know i needed to reach out to other folks who feel similarly. To top it all off didn’t get enough time off during Christmas so I can’t even go see him. I’m spending Christmas alone! :( (Though at least he’s going up to Scotland to see his family which is good).

I resubbed to world of Warcraft and we quest together and are leveling for the new expansion but sometimes it makes me even sadder hahaha. :(

Playing an MMO together defiantly helps. Something to let you both just be quiet and breathe and not have to entertain each other.  Some days you'll just be grumpy, but don't let it become that more of those days happen than good days.  We still have months to go, and each of us as couples has to figure out how to survive the anguish.  Some days I can barely take it, and I make her tired.  Knowing that my attitude is pulling her down makes me fight harder to hold on to the good things, and have good days.  I don't know what will work for you two, but I hope you find it.  Spending Christmas Alone sucks.  I get to go visit in February, but still another 2 months away!

You’re right! I need to be strong for him. Otherwise then we will BOTH be sad constantly and what’s the point in that?

we are both hoping my visit in MARCH :( will be the last one I have to do but at this stage it doesn’t seem likely! He is hoping to be able to come back with me then.

I had to get 7, and one more in March... if I can even get it (Hepatitis A vaccine is very scarce right now and hard to get). At least I can get them for free where I live :)
