We barely got to speak before he had to board his connecting flight, but he said "no issues."

For others' reference, he had a signed letter from me (stating he would be staying at my residence, for these dates, for purposes of visiting for the holidays, here is my phone number if you need to contact me), a letter from his job confirming his continued employment, a copy of his freshly-renewed car registration, and a copy of his lease agreement.  I don't yet know if he was actually asked to produce any of these documents or if he simply said he was visiting his fiance and they let him through.

I'm not going to be around on the forums much for the next several weeks, but I'll update about his experience when I can in case it helps anyone else.

Please do, as my fiancée and I are planning a trip for her, and I am curious as to what was asked.

Hello,

July 14th filer here, getting totally impatient. Any clue how long will it take :(

Hopefully, we start seeing early July approvals within the coming weeks.

The apostille only serves as a public notary, it doesn’t translate the contents of the document but rather states that it is a true copy or that someone’s signature is legit. My birth certificate was in Portuguese so I had to translate it with an official translator into English. Hope this helps!

Not sure what document you are talking about since your profile states you are from Spain? But most Dutch municipalities give out International documents at the same fee rate as a Dutch one. I just had a copy of my birth certificate and marriage license (which has my divorce registered on it) issued in international format (English, French and some other languages) and it didn't cost me anything extra. An official translation will be more expensive I wager.

I was referring to my birth certificate. I got mine issued in different languages (French, English and German amongst others) at no cost, all in the same hard copy. My question is, will it be enough or is additional translation required?

Thank you for your help! :)

I am not sure, but if you can issue your birth certificate in English then it should be fine, why would they ask for a translation if it's already in English right? In any case, research marriage in your state, in NYC they say you can use your passport as proper identification, I am translating my birth certificate as a precaution.

Right! In Minnesota you are good to go just with your driver's license or state ID.

Yeah, everything is in English. I'll stick to that.

No questioning about K1?

Since filing for the visa in July I have been back twice, the first time was for 2 weeks then time for 8 weeks, only questions that were asked was: my reasons for travelling? How long am I staying? How did we meet? Then joked about it being MySpace. They didnt even mention K1 visa or if we have applied.

That is what I did as well, just aply for the intenacional documents at the "Gemente" and was good to go! Same fee as the Dutch ones, no stress with translations...

Boy... I'm gonna miss The Netherlands... 😭😭😭

A Justice of the Peace will do it for a small fee. There's one in every town hall. He is a legal witness to a civil procedure. Large weddings are irrelevant. It is a legal proceeding which results in a wedding certificate or license. A religious leader may have the permission to do this t so may any citizen.  The government is disconnected to any churches, very important American concept.

Not even sure if they’ll finish all of June before jumping to July. I think they’ll try to get May done, get to mid to late June started, and get working on first dates of July.
