When in transit turns to ready, that's when your embassy receives it. There's not much after that but waiting for packet 3. So I wouldn't bother about it much :)

it will probably take take less than a week

for it to get ready and then whatever time your embassy takes.

Good luck 😉

Thank you so much:) i just hope everyone's case is on the right track and getting processed faster, good luck to everyone! Hope we could get to our love ones' side soon!

This is correct, I work for one of the bigger us banks. Verification of deposit letter gives you date opened and current balance only though.

Is there a way to get total deposits made in the year then?

Not for mine, but you can include the first or 2nd page of your statement for each month. The one that shows total deposits and withdrawals for the month.

Hi there! Quick question: which form does the joint sponsor need to fill out as part of the evidence of financial support required for the interview?

I-134

Thank you Naes! I was reading elsewhere about having to submit form I-864 if in need of co-sponsorship. I am assuming it is out-of-date, right?

Nooooo that's awesomely wrong information!

Normally, I-134 is not made for co-sponsorship, so it doesn't have a different section for this unlike I-864 which is also called joint sponsorship.

That wrong info must have come from that.

However, in this kind of cases, as long as the embassy let's you use a co-sponsor you can use one by providing the same form with some part answered differently (did you file a petition etc parts. so be careful not to just copy paste all the info)

So as proof of financial support I need the following items (correct me if I am wrong please):

  • I-134 (petitioner must meet 125% of the current federal poverty guideline - $16.460 for a two-people household)
  • pay stubs
  • evidence of assets (aka "verification of deposit letter")
  • copy of the most recent income tax return (1040 & W2)

16.460?

Where did you get that amount from????

That's wrong.  20.300 for 125% , 16.240 for 100% (Hawaii and Alaska is higher)

Ok so they made a little raise, in that case that amount of 16.460 would be 100%.

Thanks for the info by the way, need to find USCIS version then

(for anyone wants to know about this: I believe they will update in March as last year they updated on March 7)

Gotcha, thank you!. I just looked up "2018 federal poverty guidelines" and that is what popped up. Didn't realise it was 100% instead of 125%.

Also, does it help to have a co-sponsor fill out another I-134 if the petitioner already meets the income requirements or is it totally pointless?

If the petitioner meets it and can show enough evidence, I don't think co-sponsor is necessary.

My fiancé meets it but because he started working late 2017, we will have a co-sponsor just in case we can't prove his income being sufficient.

Just for additional info in case some reads:

100% is what they decide, and all other percentages are given by different parts of the government, for example USCIS would decide on 125% and create that to show the poverty guidelines they officially use.

We are in the same situation. She started working last fall, so we might as well use co-sponsorship for peace of mind. My question now is: does the co-sponsor need to provide pay stubs, tax returns and evidence of assets as well?
