I was reading some postings, if I read them right some people believe they can do the K1 and bring the fiancé to the USA , get married and then head off and live in another country while waiting for AOS or Green card or while holding a green card.....wrong.

Once married under K1 then need to file AOS while under a pending AOS you can travel outside the USA but only with a valid advanced parole. that takes several months, then once receive the green card its a conditional green card then travel is limited to up to 45-60 days then must stay in the USA. This also applies to the 10yr unconditional green card. The person with the green card must reside in the USA.

example, the green card holder goes to Japan for 4 months and then back to USA they will get questioned at the POE , its up to the POE to let them back in or not and they also have the power to deny and CONFENSCATE the green card!

Just warning you peeps, don't think you can get married and then fly to live in another country....isn't going to happen and special conditions don't apply to military stationed overseas...the green card holder must reside in USA until they become a USA citizen.

conditional green card holders need advanced parole as well. unconditional doesn't need advanced parole however....if staying out the USA for long period of time (longer outside the usa than inside the usa ) they can take your green card and send you back.

The USCIS case tracker app says we were approved today!!!! We got the NOA1 on 27 July. So I’m guessing we got the NOA2 today? Hoping to get an email confirmation soon! Yippee!!!!

Ayyy! Congratulations!

You can download an app called ‘case tracker’ and if you search your own case or a case before yours you can see about 50 cases before and after yours to see if they’ve been updated :-)

Keep in mind that sometimes, though the case tracker works, the USCIS system does not update online.  We received our NOA2 many days ago and on the tracker and online it still shows as "received" not as "approved."  So keep an eye on your mailbox when the expected date approaches.
