July 2017 I-129F Filers

Hi everyone,

 

I have lurking in this forum for two months now. I just received my informed delivery notice. I'm hoping we've been approved. 

 

I'm a July 17 filer. 

 

I have a question about the police report that needs to be given during the interview process. My fiance lives in Guinea. He used to live in Ghana but left there in 2013. I noticed that on the state department k1 visa site, it specified that the beneficiary needs a police report for each country where they've lived for more than 6 months after the age of 16. 

 

Does that depend on the embassy where the interview is taken? My fiance's interview will most likely be in Sénégal. Does anyone have any information on the Sénégal embassy in regards to the police report?

 

We checked with Ghana police. They said since he is outside the country, it'll cost him $500 to get a police report that will only be valid for three months. 

 

I just want to make sure that it's necessary to get the police report even though he left Ghana 5 years ago.

Question: for affidavit of support . If my fiancé doesn’t have other People dependent on him ., is it none or n/a in questions 10?

Additional to that question above. When it asks in question "My annual income is", is this the gross salary or salary after taxes?

 

For the "I Intend/Do not intend to make specific contributions to support of the person(s)", I did not select any and instead wrote in the additional information (part 7) "N/A (Filing I-129F for my fiancee to begin K1 Visa process for permanent residence)". Is this OK?

Waahoo..... Our case (filed July 5th) was just approved.  It's day 211.  I'll update our timeline.

 

Interestingly it does NOT show approved on the USCIS website nor on the app.  It just arrived via USPS

 

Now I must wait a few hours for her to wake up....  Good luck to the others waiting in the wings...

If you are talking Page 3 of 8, question 10 a,b,c then the answer is "none"

If you are talking Page 3 of 8, question 3 then that is your pre-tax salary.( Example. If I make 50k before taxes then my answer would be 50k)

OMG!  $500 that is so insane.  The average per capita income is only ~$4500.  That's equivalent to police in America charging $5,000.  That's corrupt.  I feel so badly for you and hope you can get past this.

I have seen people do it both ways. For me page 4 of 8 question 38 I marked I intend to make etc. etc. Then on page 8 of 8 Part 7 question/blank space 3.d I wrote "I intend to provide room, board, clothing, money and all other needs for this person indefinitely."

I thought I better add this. If you do it like I did it, then also on page 8 of 8 Part 7 you will need to mark questions  3 a, b, c as the following  3a = 4, 3b = 3, 3c = 38 ( Basically you are telling them the additional info you are providing relates to this page, that part# and this question #. )

Midday scan only had one result, so I'm not posting anything. If anyone is curious it is a notice of withdrawal acknowledgment for a July 28th filer.

Personally, I think it is very achievable. NVC has really been getting cases to the Embassy quickly the past 2-3 weeks. However, it does depend on how fast you can get interview with your Embassy and the other stuff that goes along with it.
