Has anyone had a case similar to mine?

Jul 19, 2017, I submitted 129F package
Jul 21, 2017, Package arrived on and got text message saying that my form has been received (I submitted G-1145).

July 26,2017,  I got an email that my case has been routed to the California Service Center for processing and that within 7-10 days by standard mail I will receive the official receipt notice. (form I-797). Check cashed.

It's  now Aug 15th and no mail. I tried calling USCIS but they wont help me until 20 Aug (which is 1 month after submitting). I have read that people have gotten their NOA1 1-2 weeks max after getting the text message.

My fiancee and are in a similar situation

Jul 24, I-129F sent per USPS to Dallas

Jul 27, I-129F arrived in Dallas (confirmed on the USCIS website)

Jul 31, beneficiary received e- notification e-mail; petitioner did not receive e-mail or text message

Now it's Aug 15 and there's still no hard copy of the NOA1. The USCIS site says that we should call customer service if it's not here by Aug 26 (so 30 days after they receive it apparently)

I really hope this is normal. I'm probably worrying too much. I've read that you don't really need the NOA1 as long as you have your case number.

I wonder what causes stuff like this

  • How did you two meet?
  • How long have you been together?
  • What was it like meeting in person for the first time?

Looking forward to hearing some awesome stories! :)

We met on an online dating app just about 9 months ago. I went to visit her in the Philippines in May for a couple weeks. Really excited about all this!

We first met in an online dating site in 2014. Unfortunately for me I had been laid off after working at a place for several years. However, I was going back to school to get my IT degree and move on. After graduation I was able to go to Dubai and meet her for the first time. After that I had to find work, and I did, but I couldn’t take a vacation for a year. Our next meeting was in the Philippines in December 2016 through January 2017. Spent New Year’s there and loved it! Can’t wait to get her here and start enjoying life together. Thank God for Skype, but I’m ready to be off of it. We Skype 24/7, it is always on unless the internet goes down.

Woah, that's really neat! How do you manage to Skype 24/7? Do you work from home? Because of poor connection, we are only able to video chat about once a week...

Thanks, As far as Skype goes we just leave our computers running 24/7. I have it set-up so if the internet connection goes down either one of us can call back and Skype will automatically answer and start video. Plus, either one of us can remote into each others computers if needed. Both of our connections are usually stable and don't go down very often, though. I don't work from home, but I don't have a office job, so I am home a lot. I also have an unlimited WiFi Hot Spot so if I travel for my job, then we can Skype on the road, in a hotel, etc. It's about the closest thing to being physically together we could do at this point. We can tell each other goodnight and good morning, talk about our day, or just look at each other.

Yes Skype is amazing, I don't know how people did it before video calling. Imagine having to wait a week for a letter... Crazy!! My OT and I Skype everyday usually for around a hour, maybe longer and sometimes about 3 times a day lol. Luckily I work shift's so i am home when it is morning in america :)

Trying not to think about this whole process as it will take its time, however at the same time I am preparing all my stuff for the interview/medical etc.

Only one month since my NOA1... how many do we have left lol.

We've known each other for over half my life. We met Way Back in 88 when he was up in North Ontario for a fishing trip, and I was working a summer job at a fly in fishing camp.   We've always kept in contact and we were supposed to be married 18 years ago. But life and other things got in the way and we didn't finish the K-1 application, and we ended things a day before the NOA2 came in.  Really hoping that that does not hurt us this time around

My fiance and I met in Second Life (hilarious I know).  I ended up moving to New Zealand in 2012 and we've been living together ever since.  I feel a bit spoiled having been able to move to New Zealand to be with him.  We are just waiting for approval so we can both move back to the states at the same time.  I haven't been able to see my family or friends in the states for nearly 3 years so I'm pretty antsy to get things going.  On a side note, I highly recommend second life for those of you who are apart and want something other than skype or phone to interact with each other.
