man if I order something on amazon, the most likely send me a cancellation a day later saying they don't ship to Switzerland hahaha

I need hook ups that travel to Germany or UK so I can order to that address and they bring it whenever they come here lol

did u figure out how to ship your personal belongings to the US yet? or are you guys seeing each other so often that you can do it step by step with every visit?

I have only 1 luggage left already 😂😂 last time we took 3 full luggages and I left all my clothes that I took for myself too.

so now I only have 2 big  things like my skateboard and yoga mat, and the rest is just more shoes and some clothes. Next time he comes he's going to take everything but my work clothes. And I'll be done! I have boxes and boxes in their garage already (the easy life of being an expat for 10 years)

We are planning on sending small-ish/medium sized boxes (maybe 5 or so) of our more precious things through the post. It's not as expensive to ship them from Romania to the states as it would be to check an extra bag or three lol. I'm packing them using my summer clothes instead of bubble wrap for cushioning. I do have some books here and I am sad that I might have to choose which ones I bring back :( The rest of our stuff, furniture and TV, etc. will either be sold or gifted to family members.

We'll have our carry-ons stuffed with our electronics (3 laptops, ipad, expensive camera/lenses) and we'll have our dog (also counting as a carry-on). Our checked bags will hopefully be light enough that we won't have any extra fees.

Is the airline allowing 2 free check-in? Try to find one of those!

its good that it doesn't cost much from there!! It was 300$ per box here at least so we just carried everything! Including the cats in our past travels.

also check if they allow 1 animal + 1 carry on. We had 2 carry ones and 2 cats.

oooh you are smart ;) don't end up moving and you have empty suitcases and no handluggage hahahaha

ohhhh wait - the dress!!! :D that's gonna take some space - or is it in the US already?

@BVGApeach as far as I heard and read, it's only allowed to bring one laptop per person :o are you sure with the airline you fly you can bring more?

I have also found out that DHL from Germany ships 31.5 kg for about EUR 100, so 8 kg more than an extra suitcase! I will have about 2-3 boxes at the end that I will ship there...

clotheswise, I brought already in feb, aug and dec a suit case and hand luggage (well small suitcase) full of things that I left there.

my walk in closet already looks like I live there hahaha

I actually brought it from US to Japan and it will go to Turkey for last minute alterations but my dress is more like a sundress (picnic wedding hehe)

I'm really expecting to just walk to US empty handed 😂

Are you planning to use the Romanian Post service or some currier service? I was thinking about shipping some of my stuff too, but not sure how it would work (if they lose it or not, tracking, insurance, do I need to pay some tax on them? ) or how much it would cost. (I payed around $12 if I remember well just to send like four sheets of A4 paper to the USA)

I wonder if I can convince them that my Chromebook is not really a laptop :P

I'm going to look into DHL and see how much it costs from Romania. 100 Euro is not bad - and maybe the box will get there in better shape.

Yeah, we use the Poşta.  It takes FOREVER though, so if I want those summer clothes in time for summer, I should probably ship them now :P

I would caution against sending actual valuables through them, though. I've had almost all of my packages opened in transit and the boxes get tossed around a bit :( This is why I am thinking we'll send mostly clothes through the post and just a few of our other things, like books, travel trinkets, etc.

Yeah.  :))) They delivered the paperwork around 2 weeks, no tracking number. Thats why I asked what are you planning to use. For sure I can't bring everything with me, also was not planning on it, but still two suitcases seems nothing. (Maybe three if he will come to the interview) I can pack easily 23kg for a three week holiday (I am a guy, but also big so my clothing are big and heavy too) so I thought I could try to ship some stuff which otherwise I need to left behind.... Let me know if u ship something and more importantly if it arrives in one piece :).
