During my K1 visa interview I submitted photocopies of all documents, but they later requested for orginal birth certificate and court decision which they sent back to me after my visa was approved excluding the court decision.  The AOS instruction said you should submit copies only, originals should be when asked. I don't think you will get back originals when submitted with the i-485. I will send mine tomorrow and all documents are photocopies.

My experience as well, pretty much anything you send in to them is theirs. Stuff you provide at the interview will be given back to you.

09/24/2016 - I-129F Packet Submitted, 09/26/2016 - NOA1, 10/27/2016 - RFE Received

11/02/2016 - RFE Reply sent

11/09/2016 - NOA2

11/21/2016 - NVC Receives packet

12/12/2016 - Case left NVC for BKK Consulate

01/10/2017 - After travelling via the slowest route possible (likely via carrier pigeon) BKK Consulate receives packet

01/16/2017 - Packet 3 Instructions received 02/28/2017 - Packet 3 Instructions Completed

03/05/2017 - Packet 4 received (now the fun begins) --> 03/29/2017 - Interview disappears from the schedule on the embassy website -->03/30/2017 - She goes to her interview, is told they need to verify her documents since she is Vietnamese interviewing in Thailand, receives a 221G with 'Verification of Viet documents' as the reason. Gave back her passport.-->03/31/2017-04/04/2017 - Case is being continuously touched. We suspect that our case was approved at this point but they didn't have her passport. --> 04/10/2017 (10 days after interview) - Email emabssy to inquire about updates and if there was anything we could do to move things forward. (3h later) - She is told that she is approved and to expect her passport soon (how when they don't have it in their posession?) After clarification, instructed to send our passport to them. Ship out passport in a rush to beat Songkran (which failed) --> 04/11/2017 - Passport at embassy according to Thai Post Office --> 04/17/2017 - Emailed to confirm they received the passport. They issued an evasive answer about Songkran backlog (they love evasive non-committal answers)--> 04/24/2017  Evening - Case changes from Immigrant Visa to Non-Immigrant Visa and a new case created date is given --? 04/25/2017 morning  (less than 12h later) - Case flies through Ready -->Admin Processing --> Issued

04/26/2017 - Checks mail, passport is there. No mention of it being mailed out. 

05/02/2017 - Arrives in the USA, without Issue

06/17/2017 - Marriage!

7/03/17- Packet received

07/07/17 - SMS and Email notification of NOA1 for AoS, EAD, and AP

07/13/17 - Received paper copies of NOA1 for AoS, EAD, and AP

Good deal.  Also, how did everyone handle to I-693 Medical paperwork.  Ours has been done well within a year and from what I read, that means it's still good.  What do I need to do to prove to them that it's still good?  Do I need to submit the form to a civil surgeon again and have them confirm?

Based on the USCIS website, you can use the old form until August 25, 2017 after which time it will no longer be accepted, so you should be fine unless you plan on submitting it after that date.

Nope, they will already have it on file from the K1 petition. Because you don't need every single vaccine to be accepted for K1, the general advice is to just send them a copy of the DS-3025 showing that all of your vaccines are complete.

Yes.  I didn't request it by myself. They told me I had to do it again as per uscis new instructions, after confirming that my vaccines were complete.  They took my blood,  urine and did a TB text. 

The issue is that,  most times uscis don't ask for new medical and sometimes they do.  I think it depends on the officer handling your file. Well, I decided to do mine because I know someone who submitted his AOS and was called for an interview within the time frame but he was asked to send his medical. I also guessed the medical prompted his interview because they only confirmed he was same person and then requested for it.

Have you tried to get a green card before? If yes, then answer yes. 

K1 is not an immigrant visa. It is a non-immigrant visa with immigrant intent. THis is why if your relationship fails, you have to leave the country, because you don't have a valid immigrant visa. So if you are thinking about the K1, the answer to this is no.

Well though I used the old form after asking the question but I figured out the answer should be 'no' because while abroad, I applied and entered the US with a K1 visa and not a permanent resident status.  So the answer is no.
