This is perhaps old news to some. But my wife was approved 9/25 for GC, which we are still awaiting. Just wanted to post here that we stumbled across many forums on what to do following receipt of GC, to make sure we missed nothing. We did not realize that you have to change your Social Security Card to an unrestricted type following AOS. My wife has had a SSN since she was here on a J-1 ten years ago, to work at a summer camp. However, it says she may not work prior to DHS Authorization on the card. Anyone with a SSN saying this or that they cannot work (anyone who applied for SSN after marriage with K-1) must have their SS "account" essentially changed to an unrestricted type so they can get a job.

This is easy enough: once you have the card, make an appt with nearest SSA office to have it changed. They change status on the spot and mail you an unrestricted card in 7-10 days. Cheers!!

Congrats  and thank you for  the info!

We had our AOS interview yesterday and wereapproved. They told us we should receive our GC within 4-6 weeks and gave us this letter afterwards and he said they'll also mail us a letter of approval. He gave the 10yr GC because we're married for 2yrs now and told us we can apply for citizenship after 3yrs. Did anyone else get a letter like this after their interview? And how long did it take for your GC to arrive? We didn't expedite anything, I actually never receive my EAD card and our case status (ead and ap) is still showing case is received. So I think we skipped the ead altogether because we had the interview pretty fast.

Congratulations! I don’t think you should worry that much. Maybe the interviewer was just easy. You mentioned he said you will receive a 10-yr GC. That’s great! My husband and I have been married for 4 years and have two kids, I was out of status for almost 4 years. So I am really hoping my interview will go fast and easy as yours! So far I haven’t got any changes, still waiting for EAD/AP and no changes online about AOS as well. I can’t answer your question, but Congratulations! 🥂

I submitted an online service request regarding my EAD last Thursday, 09/28/2017. Today recieved an approval notice in the mail, dated 09/29/2017. Status on the USCIS site - New card is being produced. Honestly, I am plesantly surprised.

I did same day but it’s still currently not assigned to an officer. Did yours chang to assigned to an officer? You filed 06/30. That may be the reason why they acted fast.

No, mine did not. I have no clue why USCIS responded so fast. I din't expedite or something, just submitted SR.

Frankly, I don't know. I submitted a SR out of curiosity without even expecting of believing that it would change anything, and haven't checked the website since then. That's why I was surprised to receive an approval notice in the mail.

congratulations! How long had it been before you submitted an SR? mine has been sitting for 70days. I know I can only make a follow up affer 75days but I am wondering whether I should wait a little more if it means getting a positive response like yours. :)
