Everyone need EAD right away, those who expedite EAD jump ahead of the line and make others that apply before you have to wait longer.

Hi, we had a job offer letter, letter from the company COO, and and hospital bills due to emergency surgery for the beneficiary (my hubs). They had only asked us for the job offer letter when asking for the proof in the mail. By the time we got this mail, it was approved already.

Hope this helps.

In my experience, they are EXTREMELY strict about the requirements as their expedite department has limited resources. But I would still encourage you to try to expedite if you feel like you really do *need* it right away and can prove it to the the immigration officer with all the required evidence. I'm assuming that the process is there for a reason.

We were told by both Tier 2 officer and the US Congressional Aide that expedited EADs are forwarded to a separate department for approval and processing (which is why it takes another 2-3 weeks to get it after the request). I don't think it will affect your timeline too much. Good luck in the rest of your journey!! I know it can be frustrating.

Excited to have an update on my status!!

"As of August 23, 2017, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status...We will schedule your interview and send you a notice."

I really wonder if the speed of it has anything to do with attempting to expedite my EAD, however there is no online update on my EAD status yet. Crossing my fingers they approve it, it's funny because I'd rather have my EAD and wait a while for the interview!

Congratulations! I have seen a lot of people who expedited their EAD got their I-485 interview already. Although I can't tell if that is really the case of the faster process. While here I am, patiently waiting. lol.

It is not, EAD/AP are processed entirely separately from I-485. Most of the I-485 is processed at your local branch. If you get an interview, then it is based upon how busy or slow your local branch is.

Pedro when you say that I-485 is processed at your local branch, does that mean that even though NOA for AOS says National Business Center (Lee's Summit, MO) once they go thru my case, that will then be forward to the most closest office?

Correct, in general, the National Benefits Center simply makes sure that everything is there and good to go for the local office. From there they route it to your local office who takes over, which is why some offices, like Yakima are processing quite fast. The exception is when they decide that someone deserves a interview waiver, then it remains at the NBC until the team that handles the Interview Waiver processing approves it. This is why the interview waiver can take a while, independent of the local office.

Thanks @PedroDaGr8. Is there a way to check processing times for an particular office? In my case Milwaukee WI. As far as I can see on VJ i can only check processing times for a process (AOS, EAD, K1 etc...) but not for a office.
