Yesterday I finally received my green card! I'm so happy and relieved that the wait is over and that I can work and go visit my family back in Spain!

Received a status update on my case this morning on the tracker that my case was scheduled for an interview. Ironically enough the new DHS website didn't update but the old tracker did.

11/02/2016 - RFE Reply sent

11/09/2016 - NOA2

11/21/2016 - NVC Receives packet

12/12/2016 - Case left NVC for BKK Consulate

01/10/2017 - After travelling via the slowest route possible (likely via carrier pigeon) BKK Consulate receives packet

01/16/2017 - Packet 3 Instructions received 02/28/2017 - Packet 3 Instructions Completed

03/05/2017 - Packet 4 received (now the fun begins) --> 03/29/2017 - Interview disappears from the schedule on the embassy website -->03/30/2017 - She goes to her interview, is told they need to verify her documents since she is Vietnamese interviewing in Thailand, receives a 221G with 'Verification of Viet documents' as the reason. Gave back her passport.-->03/31/2017-04/04/2017 - Case is being continuously touched. We suspect that our case was approved at this point but they didn't have her passport. --> 04/10/2017 (10 days after interview) - Email emabssy to inquire about updates and if there was anything we could do to move things forward. (3h later) - She is told that she is approved and to expect her passport soon (how when they don't have it in their posession?) After clarification, instructed to send our passport to them. Ship out passport in a rush to beat Songkran (which failed) --> 04/11/2017 - Passport at embassy according to Thai Post Office --> 04/17/2017 - Emailed to confirm they received the passport. They issued an evasive answer about Songkran backlog (they love evasive non-committal answers)--> 04/24/2017  Evening - Case changes from Immigrant Visa to Non-Immigrant Visa and a new case created date is given --? 04/25/2017 morning  (less than 12h later) - Case flies through Ready -->Admin Processing --> Issued

04/26/2017 - Checks mail, passport is there. No mention of it being mailed out. 

05/02/2017 - Arrives in the USA, without Issue

06/17/2017 - Marriage!

Hi guys!

 

We just did a walk-in 1 day before the biometrics appointment date in San Francisco. Staff was so friendly and didn't even blink an eye or notice that I came in early (the hubs was scheduled for a minor surgery the day of the appointment). Super excellent experience!!! 

 

Now the waiting really begins for EAD/AP. 

 

Updated timeline: 

6/30 - Mailed Out (I-485, I-130, I-131, I-785)

7/3 - Received and Signed by JC & Priority Date

7/10 - Texts/Emails Received

7/11 - Checks cashed ($1225 and $535 for I-485 and I-130)

7/15 - NOA1s Received 

7/21 - Biometric Notice Received for 8/2

8/1 - Biometrics Done!

Just do it officially via USPS and then online through USCIS once it's confirmed. Both of them are online. https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange

Hello everyone! 

Is there anyone who got to USA with ESTA program and stayed? Sent my AOS package July 28th and have few questions about SSN, driving license since mine i94 is expired already. 

Also anybody filing to Chicago office? how long it took to get NOA?

Initial NOA1 comes from the NBC in Missouri. You mail to Chicago, they send to NBC, NBC does their stuff, then it is transferred to your local office. 

 

If your i94 is expired, you can't get an SSN until you receive your EAD card (if you applied for it) or you get your gc (if you didn't)

Thank you! I did apply for EAD. Maybe anybody know if my SSN will change then? I had it before while working with J1 visa. I need it to get on insurance. Also how about driving license? Can you get state license then you get NOA?

And by the way any idea how long it takes to get EAD?

Oh you already have one. That is your SSN for life. It will not change. You can use it to get insurance. 

 

DL is very much dependent upon the state you live in. So none of us here can easily answer it.

 

EAD are running about 100-120 says right now. There is a backlog at the NBC.

Hi guys! So today I received my biometrics appointment for August 16. The problem is I'll be traveling during this time. I'll be gone until August 28 or 29. In the appointment letter I can tick the option to request a change of the appointment date, should I also write that I'll be gone until the end of August in another blank paper? Or what should I do? Also, I'll be in Virginia, can I show up at the VA facilities to get my fingerprints done there?
