Frankly, I would not be very nervous about lack of joint documents. It's all explainable. I would be more concerned that the husband cannot make it to the interview. Are you sure that It's okay? I always thought that both spouses must be present at the interview because of the objective of it - to determine that marriage is bona fide. I would've called to USCIS office and make sure that that won't affect their decision.

Received a status update on my case this morning on the tracker that my case was scheduled for an interview. Ironically enough the new DHS website didn't update but the old tracker did.

Yeah. I already was concerned about that. I kind of was preparing for the worst scenario but in San Antonio field office they said that does not affect a decision. As long as I have papers, explaining why. Like his orders. Besides, I think I'm going to go with my mother-in-law. As a support. She can answer questions too if officer wants. Mothers will never lie😂😂

Yeah. Not going to argue back. Guess it's a 50/50 chance and totally depends on the officer that works on your case. But at least now I know they taking applications in advance

Yes, we have confirmed to move. Sold our old car (inherited that from hubby's stepdad after he passed away last Sep). We did not regret for using Yuma as a stepping stone though, because it was the right time and place to start at (cheaper living expenses, and we get to help families out dealing with his stepdad's passing as well as house chores for mom and sis). Initially we planned on moving in Apr 2018, but we were advised by our attorney (when she was handling our RFE response) not to as it'd cause the delay. But you know, at this point... if we are seeing more and more Jan 18 filers getting their dates, yet us who filed in July 17 hear nothing, what's the point for me to continue staying and be afraid of delaying my GC? I got my EAD and AP, with pending GC - renewal of EAD doesn't cost anything other than the costs of mailing the package, furthermore, I can file 180 days before my EAD expires.
We didn't move mainly because we believe that Philly office process faster than PHX, yes the platform did put the average processing time showing that Philly is slightly better than Phx, but that wasn't our whole intention to move. I need to move on and carry on with my life, can't be sitting in Yuma (one of the highest unemployment rate in the US... >10%) and doing nothing. Since I intend to return to University in PA, might as well go ahead and move early, establish the residency of 1 year so that I may qualify for in-state tuition fee next year. There's also more job opportunities in a big city for me compared to this small town (kind of like zombie city lol, so slow and the majority of the populations are retired).

I have the tendency to believe that they are putting all 2017 filers on hold, and settle as many Jan 2018 filers as possible to clear / reduce their backlogged number of cases. It sure is unfair and ridiculous for those who filed before Jan 2018, but they are the one who make decision, so they won't care what we have to say.

I've tried question the Tier2 officer recently, I was just too bored sitting at home doing nothing so I thought to call and hoping to get diff officer who may be helpful. When I mentioned about Jan 2018 filers are getting interview dates as well as approval, and there were at least one or two are from Phoenix, the officer literally didn't answer or bother about this information. Carried on to tell me the same line over and over "PHX's average processing time for family-based AOS is 14.5 to 22 months, and my case from July til now = 10 months, so it is still within normal processing timeline". If your filing date is beyond 22 months, then you may file the E-request ticket of "case beyond normal processing time". At that point, I can't say anything much. All I did was check with the officer to see if my case is with NBC or PHX, I was told it is still with NBC, and it is just shown as "pending/processing".


So yeah, calling seem to be useless now. We'll just move by end of this month.

They have updated about renewal of EAD now allow to be filed 180 days in advance prior to the expiry date. It was updated in March/April. Before that it was 120 days, and several years ago I believe it was 90 days.

Regarding citizenship eligibility. As @leymanai mentioned the clock starts ticking from the moment the I-485 petition is approved. That date will be on your wife's green card as an issue date. We, the spouses or US citizens, are eligible to apply for citizenship after 3 years of being legal permanent residents provided that we're still in married to the same US citizen through whom we obtained a green card. The rest of LPRs have to wait for 5 years before they become eligible for citizenship.

I was hoping my wife would have had her green card by now. I'm a bit worried that the interview notice will be in June because we are headed back to Vietnam for the month of June. Not sure what will happen if we are unable to make the interview D:

I didn't receive notice yet, but I contacted tier2 to verify when is my interview because now i need to buy tickets to Texas. And they scheduled it for June 14th. Damn I am so happy and scared the same time:blink::unsure:

My advice is if you receive the interview notice, don't reschedule. Much better to fly back, even if just for a couple days to do the interview and go back. In my personal opinion, it's much better to eat that cost than to delay for what might be multiple months. This process already takes forever and the delays are stressful. With my wife and I, we travelled back in Feb and were worried similarly. We were fully ready to cancel the trip at the last minute if that happened. We almost wish it had rather than waiting until this long. 

 

As an aside, it is funny how similar you and Vietnamese wife's timeline is with mine and my Vietnamese wife's! Good luck to you!

01/10/2017 - After travelling via the slowest route possible (likely via carrier pigeon) BKK Consulate receives packet

01/16/2017 - Packet 3 Instructions received 02/28/2017 - Packet 3 Instructions Completed

03/05/2017 - Packet 4 received (now the fun begins) --> 03/29/2017 - Interview disappears from the schedule on the embassy website -->03/30/2017 - She goes to her interview, is told they need to verify her documents since she is Vietnamese interviewing in Thailand, receives a 221G with 'Verification of Viet documents' as the reason. Gave back her passport.-->03/31/2017-04/04/2017 - Case is being continuously touched. We suspect that our case was approved at this point but they didn't have her passport. --> 04/10/2017 (10 days after interview) - Email emabssy to inquire about updates and if there was anything we could do to move things forward. (3h later) - She is told that she is approved and to expect her passport soon (how when they don't have it in their posession?) After clarification, instructed to send our passport to them. Ship out passport in a rush to beat Songkran (which failed) --> 04/11/2017 - Passport at embassy according to Thai Post Office --> 04/17/2017 - Emailed to confirm they received the passport. They issued an evasive answer about Songkran backlog (they love evasive non-committal answers)--> 04/24/2017  Evening - Case changes from Immigrant Visa to Non-Immigrant Visa and a new case created date is given --? 04/25/2017 morning  (less than 12h later) - Case flies through Ready -->Admin Processing --> Issued

04/26/2017 - Checks mail, passport is there. No mention of it being mailed out. 

05/02/2017 - Arrives in the USA, without Issue

06/17/2017 - Marriage!

07/07/17 - SMS and Email notification of NOA1 for AoS, EAD, and AP

Wait seriously? Tier 2 scheduled your appointment? Were you past the days listed for your location?

 No. My interview was already scheduled. I received notification in email. All i needed to know is when they scheduled it so i can go ahead and get my tickets. He was very helpful.  Right now for my location case inquiry date is Dec.6 2016. But back in November tier 2 did scheduled me a biometrics appointment. I was 4 month late for thtat stuff

I have a letter in the mail today from USCIS. I've had this happen before a couple of weeks ago where I got my hopes up when I saw a letter coming through USPS informed delivery and it turned out to be the NOA1 for my EAD renewal, but not sure what it could be this time..

All great points, which I understand completely. If the delay continues, I suppose I’ll have to look into extending my EAD. Other than that, as a Canadian without any children, I don’t feel super impacted by the waiting — other than the annoyance and uncertainty, of course.
