Has anybody seen the amount of interviews being booked for January 2018 filers? They're getting scheduled at a rapid rate. There's been three through Philadelphia who filed in January 2018 who have been scheduled for an interview already. Anybody get any idea why this is? We haven't had an update on our case since September.

I know right!? Not only Philly, there are also at least 2 - 3 I've seen in Jan Filers thread through Phoenix already gotten interview. In addition to 1 who has gotten the approval letter and GC without interview. I have not heard anything from mine too despite we responded to the RFE by late Jan. At this point we are just thinking they pick on cases which are straightforward and less pages in Jan to process first lol. Ours contain hundreds of pages... oh btw our current local office should be PHX, but guess what, we gave up for waiting over in Yuma AZ where it is so freaking hard to get a job. We are gonna relocate to Philly in June and hopefully be able to secure a place then update our address to get our case transfer to Philly. I suspect my case is still with NBC.

LoL, great for you. Damn, day 269 you got your GC. Imagine for me on Apr 26 it is Day 282 for me including RFE pausing period. Day 90 from RFE Response date. Day 191 after subtracting the RFE pausing period. Yet I heard nothing. Now that my spouse cannot withstand living in Yuma anymore, we have just decided to move by end of May to the East Coast in Philly. Hopefully my case be with NBC until June so that when we finally secure a 1 year lease of a new place we can update the address, and it won't delay much. Otherwise, it might end up having the case in Phx and having to transfer again where it may cause delay.

That's rough. Hope you get the feedback soon

WOW!!! Most of 2018 filers got their interview schedule already and the processing of EAD/AP was fast.

Now I am curious as to how many of us got their approvals already and how many are pending? I am tempted to prepare googlesheet to check :)

For those still without update, will it help if you call them every week?  I'll pray for you guys, hope you all get your GC soon.

Initial processing for i-485 such as checking if all submitted docs are sufficient and background check is in NBC. EAD & AP are also the same at NBC. The Local Office only process the interview, which local offices had to liaise with NBC back and forth to keep each cases updated. I think most notices and interview apptment are sent by NBC, however NBC had to first check with respective local offices to ensure the interview dates are available before they can issue the letter to the applicant.

I know right, I just get so frustrated seeing Jan 2018 filers keep getting interview notice. I just believe the officers are cherry-picking cases. There are still a handful of July filers haven't gotten their interview yet. No, calling every week wouldn't do much. The Tier1 officer would try with all kind of excuses to not transfer you to a Tier2 officer to check on the progress. Even if you get lucky, talked to a Tier 2, they can check further into the case and update you the progress, the next thing they'd do is ask you to only call back by a specific timeline/date. For example, I called last month when my RFE response day hit Day 60. They only updated me that my case should be ready for interview, call back to check in a month. I also asked if my case is still with NBC or local office, as answered, it was still with NBC along with many other applicants. Just gotta wait.

I think one of two things are happening here, because you're right - I'm seeing all of these 2018 filers get approved or get their interview scheduled and it's absolutely soul crushing when you've had people waiting in some instances three times as long as they have. I wish them all the best and all, but it's grossly unfair. So I think one of two things has happened;

1) There has been a glitch in their system with the new processing times update and they're for whatever reason being given 2018 cases to work on.

2) Everyone who filed before October 2017 has been put in an interview waiver list. This would make more sense to me because I believe USCIS' policy is now to interview everyone adjusting status, it would make sense to me that they do this to ease workload.

Of course this is all just theory and guessing games, but I can't really think what else it would be. It seems that several filers a day from 2018 are getting interview notices.

Haha, your theory about putting everyone b4 Oct 17 on waiver list seems a bit too unbelievable to me. But if it really happens, fine with me, they can mail me the approval notice + GC directly... haha I am fine with not having interview :o

Just made a call to the Tier 1 this morning, this guy couldn't pull out info (I already knew that would happen - User Defined Error for a month already), put me on hold, then come back and tell me their Office internet line isn't working, to call back 3-4 hours later. Fact is they can't access the much more detailed info at Tier 1 Office, plus they don't have the access right to the system where they can see more info regarding the case history, any agent working on it, what exact status is it in. I hung-up. Called again as I know it always provide you a diff Tier 1 Officer. Got a lady this time, just gave her my MSC# after indicating that I am an applicant. She says she got User-defined error in return by checking on case status so she can't access to anywhere else to provide further info, asked when did I filed, answered July 17, then she says since it is filed > 45 days and in my case it is even > 90 days, she will transfer me to a Tier 2. Finally, I can schedule a call back from Tier 2 again to check on the progress. CallBack waiting time is 330+ minutes. Whew, now I have to wait to receive a call by 2pm+.

Hopefully I'll get some good news from the Tier2 Officer by then!

That's weird. Even when you call to them in the morning at 8:00 they ask to watch over 300 minutes. I used to get call backs within 20 minutes the same time.

And... Tier 2 officers are usually have more information but they can't do much. And easier way to get transferred to them is to ask tier1 that you want to verify if your address is correct on application and they will transfer ypu immediately. Done it 100 times 😂

Haha, good to know. Yeah last month when I called in the morning I always get 180 minutes... now it is double the amount lol.  I'll use that address trick after we move, well I need to double and triple check with Tier 2 if our address update is going to be reflected in the system or not once we have completed it online. We won't update the address not until we have a new lease in June in Philly. The first temp place is Airbnb, but it isn't appropriate to use someone else's home address since we aren't there for long term. Moving by end of May.... so we are gonna say goodbye to PHX office haha.

LoL, 100 times !? This is my 5th/6th call. I usually don't call unless it is way beyond normal processing time and I needed to check on the progress.

Sorry to hijack this convo— two questions.

1. Are y’all calling your specific USCIS Office for updates? Where can I can to speak to an officer??

2. Are there any local-office-specific threads? I’m with the New Orleans Office and they’re going so slow it’s insane. Wait time is a minimum of 11.5 months 😭 I wanna know if others are having the same issue. Husband will have been here for a year next month and we’re still at least six months away from a GC. So annoying!!!!!

Yeah. Or even more. I call them every week to hear about my EAD. Pushy. I know. But every time when I called about EAD, they were sending me email saying they are still processing my i485(even though I wasn't asking about that)

Just make sure to tell tier1 you need to talk to second level. They cannot say you no. But sometimes there are some agents that have no idea what they are talking about and giving a lot of bs. So then, call back again to talk to another representative. Usually, if they understand, that there's something wrong with a case and they can't give you detailed info, they will transfer you to schedule a call back from Tier2.

I think one of two things are happening here, because you're right - I'm seeing all of these 2018 filers get approved or get their interview scheduled and it's absolutely soul crushing when you've had people waiting in some instances three times as long as they have. I wish them all the best and all, but it's grossly unfair. So I think one of two things has happened;

I guess that's the reason why the 2018 filers are getting their interview schedule. I just really hope that for those here in our batch that hasn't gotten any update will get their approval like mine with no interview. *crossig fingers*

I haven't heard anything but had a tier 2 officer call me back today who said that the NBC had reached out to Philadelphia to get an interview date, so to expect to hear something real soon.
