I-751 July 2017 Filers

Hello, guys! I decided to check my case with the receipt # showing on my extension letter. I had never thought of it. And it says they received my case in my local office on April 9, 2018. See photo. What does that mean? Am I closer to having an answer from them? Thanks!

BTW, they received my case on July 5th, 2017.

I just made a quick excel calculation on how long you might expect to wait to have your case processed at VSC, assuming that your case was received on July 12, and they are now working on number 17 238 xxxx. This contains simplifying assumptions, such as that VSC and CSC receive roughly equal numbers of petitions, and that they approve them at the same historical daily rate. See results below.

Total Forms Received, Q1 2017 Total Cases Processed, Q1 2018 Days in Q1 Average apps processed per day (Total) Average Total Cases Received per day Assumed average apps processed per day, CSC Assumed average apps processed per day, VSC Assumed remaining cases before July 12  Expected Wait VSC, days
36,263 24,725 92 269 394 134 134 9,066 67

if your estimate is correct, thats roughly more than 2 months from now, give or take the assumptions. When did you file?

I got the same message back in April as a matter of fact.  I re checked my page a few hours ago and it still says that.  My local office is in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania

The correct receipt number is EAC17284XXXX which is tied up to your I-751, the EAC17205XXXXX is your CR-I89.

The one that you need to monitor is the EAC17284XXXX.

The whole time since I filed I was looking at EAC172205XXXXX for my petition and didn't realize there was no update on it since I submitted. I will check for the other EAC172284XXXXX number. Could you tell me if this is located on my extension letter or somewhere else?  Thanks

Hi All,

When I checked my status online for I-751. It states 'Case Was Received At My Local Office on April 9th'. Does that mean that we'll get a call for an interview? I remember back then if you provided enough evidence you would get 10 year green card with out an issue. Is that not the case anymore?

Thanks,

MB2017

I looked up few posts above and saw screenshots but did not find an answer to the question if getting file to local agency means an in-person interview down the road. Unfortunately, I don't have free time like you to sit 24/7 on this website, read and memorize everyone's answer.  So no need to be rude here. If you didn't want to answer you could have just moved on, its that simple.

HI,

It doesn't mean an interview. And it doesn't mean an actual transfer to your local office either. Some people got approval after seeing msg like that - Vermont filers mostly. So who knows...

But unless you get a hard copy of the transfer, I'd not be worried about it - most likely it means your case has been "transferred' from one room to another one withing the same filed office (CSC or VSC).

Ok, so am I understanding this correctly that the extension for the extension letter all of us July 2017 filers is a STAMP and not another extension letter?  The only means of getting this STAMP is through an appointment w/ USCIS?

I thought I saw something on here about new letters going out to extend things further because USCIS knows of this delay. I can't remember where I saw that though. I am not depending on that though and will be planning to get the stamp. The only way to get the stamp is via an Info Pass appointment to my knowledge.

My plan is to start working on getting an appointment in August. I have a couple of international trips later in the year, so I hope that I won't get any trouble going in early. I think (like everything with USCIS) it depends on the office, and the officer. My extension letter is good until October (based on the date your green card expired)

Hi, first and most important you have to submit

1-Copy of Green Card front and back

2-Copy of Marriage Certificate in English

You can also submit additional documents and evidence but they are not necessary cuz you have to bring them to your interview anyways.

* 3 years of tax transcript

*Divorce Certificate

* proof of ur husband or wife citizenship (Birth certificate or Naturalization Certificate)

* If u have kids together Birth Certificate

*Driver license

* we also submitted Health insurance policy for 3 years

*Auto insurance policy for 4 years

*Flight itineraries

*Photos.

*If u have a joint bank account together u can submit ur statements.

You can submit everything u want but if u onlysubmit Green card and Marriage Certificate u will be fine because that's all they ask for.

You MUST bring to ur interview

*Green Card,

*Passport  and all of the documents I mentioned above.

If u or ur partner have been divorced they will ask u in the application about the date of Marriage, divorce date, name and day of birth of ur or ur partner ex or exes in my case lol. My husband has been divorced 3 times so u can imagine how long was my application.

If the USCIS press release is to be believed, all pending I-751 cases as of June 2018 should automatically receive a new extension letter (I-797), not a stamp. The stamp, an I-551, is only available via an appointment with your local USCIS office. I have anecdotally read that these I-551 stamps have ranged anywhere from as little as 3 months all the way up to 1 full year. Again, that is only anecdotally what I have heard, do not take that as the gospel.

I believe where you saw it was here. I think I am going along with the same line of thinking as you. If I do not receive my updated I-797 extension letter by mid July, I am going to try scheduling an appointment to get an I-551 stamp. Additionally, I am also going to write my local senator to see if an inquiry can get the ball rolling. While I doubt it will change much, who knows, it may just be the kick up the rear that USCIS needs to get my file going.

I am just finding this wait unacceptable, as USCIS seems to be moving the goal posts at will as to how long they can take on processing ROCs. A friend of mine who immigrated here a year prior to me had his ROC processed in approximately 9 months. I cannot help but feel bitter many of us will be double that at this point.

To anyone else posting in this thread: Please do update us on when you receive your updated extension (I-797) letter!
