I-751 July 2017 Filers

Hello, I haven’t been on here in a while. I’m in California.

As a May 2017 filer (sorry for the hijack) I did the biometrics and received the confirmation letter pretty soon after filing last year. Well, in the meantime I managed to misplace the extension letter when we moved (address updated with USCIS) Since my anniversary date comes closer (July 4) and I still didn’t hear anything back from them I rang USCIS today to at least try to obtain my reference number of the extension letter. I actually got it without much trouble so I punched it in the online status service. To my surprise it just popped up as received in May 2017 - not even pending or processing, oh boy! Now my question:

- I can’t get an appointment with the local field office. If I attempt a walk in will they still give me a stamp even though I only have the receipt number rather than the actual letter?

- It’s been over 12 months and the status still only shows “Case Received”. Is this normal?

Thanks for any input!

Hello all,

I check back every so often on those of us who filed in July of 2017 in hopes that I will begin to see that people are receiving word that their conditions have finally been lifted and I noticed a few things I wanted to ask you all about.

After my husband filed his I-751 last July he did his biometrics in August and received his letter to extend his green card by one year last September.  So, we are now in June of 2018 and I am wondering....am I going to receive a new I-797 extending his green card beyond his extension of September 20, 2018? Some people have mentioned getting a stamp to extend their green card...what is that? Is or extension letter the same thing? Also, if my husband has his conditions removed before his extension expires, it would make us getting approved in 14 months and I kind of doubt that is going to happen as it seems it is taking more time.  Do I need to do anything, alert anyone, make an appointment with USCIS regarding a further extension or is that why we will be receive a new I-797?

Lastly, all those who are wonder as I had been about traveling on the extension letter.  My husband and I returned and when passing through immigration they asked for nothing.  It seems that our extension was attached to my husbands profile because the immigration officer said he was looking at it on his screen.

Thanks in advance to any info regarding my questions above :)

You can just go to the local USCIS office and get a stamp - which will extend the legal status for another year. It's literally just a stamp in a passport.

Though right now USCIS is suppose to send out 6 months validity extensions letters to those still waiting. Since processing times went up and all. Not sure if any of July fillers got their new letters yet, though?

I made the following list (plan to file online)

1) Marriage Certificate

2) spouse's passport/birth certificate

4) Copies of expired green card /extension letter

5) IRS tax transcripts for the last 3 years

6) copy of bank statements/ mortgage/ deed

7) proof of enrollment in selective services

I  got my infopass today. I asked the officer if i should file my N-400 now and she suggested that i should wait for the I-751 to be adjudicated first. She said that right now they're processing applications from Nov'16 and only "God knows" when I will get the 10 year green card.

Actually, just had a second glance at my biometrics letter, there's a first number that shows EAC 17 284 XXXXX and second one EAC 17 205 XXXXX. The first number shows case was transferred to local office on April 9 2018 and the second one shows since july 10 the case is pending. Not sure which one is the right case. Any idea?

284 is the right one. It is calculated as the number of days since the start of their fiscal year. So yours means that they issued your NOA on 7/12/2017.
