WOW!!! Seems like an approval!!

Sorry your card didn't "find" you right now, but you can submit a request and it will be re-sent to you.  And yes, congratulations on your approval!!! :) :) Gives us  (CSC filers) a hope they are getting closer to last Summer I-751 ROC filers!

If this is true, Congratulations!!! Im a little bit skeptical though. If it is an approval. Why would they say this.

"If you do not submit an online request by December 1, 2018, we will destroy your document and you will need to file a new Form I751, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS ON RESIDENCE, with fee" ??

If you are approved... wouldnt you need to file for a replacement of the 10 year green card? I dont see why you would need to apply for another I-751 after you just got approved??? its just doesnt make too much sense to me.

What do you think? Maybe you should call them and find out.. Please keep us updated and Good Luck!

My N-400 filing eligibility opens up July 15th; I figure, if that is the end goal, why not get a start on it at the earliest available time? With processing times only going up (Looking at you I-751 CSC!), why not get a jump start on your naturalization?

I am still somewhat hesitant due to the taxation considerations, as I would be required to pay the IRS on my foreign earned income if my partner and I were to move to Canada. Suffice to say, it may pay dividends to be able to work on either side of the border at will. Heck, never having to deal with another USCIS process again may be worth it!

Best of luck on the filing. Please do report back if there are any tips or considerations when filing your N-400 online (or via paper)!

To be honest, I wasn't really keen on applying for citizenship, and didn't have any intention of doing so until the last couple months. We don't plan to stay in the USA permanently and want to move home to Canada long-term, and that's where my patriotism to my country will always be. But we're still here for a few more years, and with the increasingly ridiculous processing times with USCIS (seriously CSC?!) combined with the current administration, I'd rather just be out from under the vice grip of USCIS once and for all. That being said, the estimated time I was given for my local field office in CA is 12-14 months, up from about 6-8 months last year, which was a little disappointing to see knowing it was half that last year.

Re: Filing online, it was pretty smooth, quick, and paper-free! I did it all in a couple of hours. I've been scanning and storing evidence since I filed ROC last year in case of an RFE with that, so I chose to front-load my N-400 with lots of optional evidence. There were a few glitches with the system; for example, whenever I tried to "Choose File" from my computer, it would say the file type couldn't be accepted, even though the files I was uploading were all acceptable file types (JPEGs and PDFs). Finally I figured out that if I dragged the file from my desktop to the drag/drop window on the application, instead of opening the browsing window to locate the file on my computer that way, it accepted it. Maybe others won't have that same problem. You also can't upload more than 5 or 6 files at a time (i.e. dragging and dropping more than 5 or 6), but you can upload more than that number in total. So in the "Other Evidence" section, I think I had about 30 files in total, and it accepted them all. I also like that the very next day I got a digital copy of the receipt notice that they've mailed me (I haven't gotten the hard copy yet). Lastly, once you've submitted the application, you can still continue to submit additional evidence in between now and when they review your case. In our case, that comes in handy as we just bought our first home and haven't yet gotten our final copy of the closing docs and title deed yet, so when I have those, I'll scan and attach them.

So overall, my initial first impressions of the N-400 online filing: pretty painless! But it is USCIS, sooo I'm not holding my breath... :)

Good luck with that......hope it comes soon.

Have you filed for N-400 yet?

I've been procrastinating.  About how long does the form take, aside from collecting data?

N400 is for citizenship, correct? If so,  I have not . I have not even looked at the form and/or what is required. I want to get this ROC over and done with 1st.

Every month I am still getting form emails telling me that there is no new update.

Hello guys,

I read in this threat that we have to make an appointment at our local USCIS center to get a stamp to have a one year extension (by the way, why don't they send an extension letter automatically if they know we have to wait more than one year? ^^).

How do I find out where is our local USCIS office? Is it the place where we did the finger print?

I so agree with you.. the government should be automatically sending you another extension letter. We have done what needs to be done in the allotted time .

I think this link https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices would tell you where is your local USCIS office where I presume you would go and get the I551 stamp. I myself soon will have to go visit my local office to get that stamp.

I am completely there with you on everything you said. My plan was not to file for it either, or at the very least wait and see how I feel, but given how poor things have gotten with USCIS processing times, I figured this might be a nudge in the right direction. Things are getting a bit, silly, shall we say? After all the time and money put into this process, it would almost feel like a waste to return to Canada one day and not have anything to show for it.

Wow, thank you for the detailed filing experience! I am definitely going to keep all of this in mind when I file online. I have to say, after the mounds of papers, from the K1 visa envelope that felt like a book to the recent ROC package I sent in, filing online is going to seem like a joy. I will certainly welcome an easier experience, that is for sure.

That said, I am just baffled at what is going on exactly with our cases as it now appears 2 people in our filing cohort have received approvals, yet the official processing times read as October of 2016? I am so very confused on how this seemingly random process works. As I told other posters in our "Waiting for our passports from Montreal" thread years ago, my theory on how they pick whom to process is this: They ascend the processing building to the roof or highest windowed floor possible; with a random stack of applications in hand, throw them indiscriminately into the wind to fall below; whichever lands closest to the center of the pre-drawn target below (highly assume this is the case, I mean, who wants to be drawing a new target each day?!) wins the approval to the next step. As you can tell, this is highly scientific and a theory I have given much thought to :) Kidding!

Best of luck to you and anyone else filing their N-400!

Exactly!

While I waited for my I-130 approval, I thought just the same.  Watching people soar right past me was really nerve-racking. Watching processing times climb was just as deadly.

Well, I bit the bullet and filed my N-400 online tonight...any other July 2017 I-751 filers done theirs yet? My window for ROC technically opened at the end of May 2017 but we were out of country so held off until July to file. Staying put this summer though so decided to do the N-400 right away in hopes of putting USCIS behind me ASAP.  .

Hello,

I am planning to submit n400 application on July 30th as my window opens up on July 29th. COuld you tell me if you applied online or via mail? If applied online, could you tell me what type of documents you had to upload like tax returns, photo, etc. Thanks
