Also, what’s the time reference for the stamp?

I filed in July, but the letter is good until October. I am an airline pilot, and I need to travel in and out of the USA. I am not sure of WHEN I need to go get the stamp... I can’t wait for the letter to expire.... thanks so much for the help!

I don't know for sure, but interested in this too as I travel a lot. From reading other threads from people who applied in early 2017 it seems that 45-60 before the expiration comes up a lot for timing to get the stamp. One person noted they called and were told to book the infopass within 45 days of expiration, but they are so inconsistent with responses there, who knows!!

Please post if you find out the answer on this. I'll be using 60 days I think for myself unless I hear otherwise.

They won't stamp an expired passport.  But they can stamp your I-94 with I-551. You need to bring 2 passport style pictures to get I-551 in your I-94 form.

https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/history-search

When you get your passport renewed (without rush :) ) I believe you can go back and get your new passport stamped. But hopefully your ROC will be done by that time...

Good luck!! :)

Thank you very much for your answer, Ksenia_O :) I did not know I needed my l-94 form :o.

Yes, hopefully our ROC will be done soon!

Usually a month before your third year being CR, but sometimes they accept walk ins specially on your case since your work needs to be in and out the US.

Thanks so much!

That's great cuz I haven't studied. I am pregnant with horrible morning sickness and thought I wouldn't be ready but I am glad I have 4 months to prepare. Thank you

There is finally an official update on the biometrics notice with strange appointments (outside of their loca office or state). They were a mistake and you either: 1) wait for corrected  biometrics notice or 2) walk-in to a local office but you may not be seen that day. See below the update I got by email. There should be in the USCIS website too

Hi All,

I was able to get an Info Pass appointment for the first week of June. My extension letter expires end of October. I thinks its pretty early to even visit USCIS office to get I-551 stamp. What you guys think should I go in June or should I re-schedule my appointment for a later month.

Thanks,

MB2017

Might be but....keep your fingers crossed you have a nice IO meeting you at the window.

Some things to consider before you cancel and rebook, that is, if your re-thinking.

A VJ friend got hers super early and she went to an office somewhere in Minnesota. Others, too I have read.

I travel quite frequently between US and Canada and twice now CBP have been adamant that I get the stamp.  First time was in January flying out of Toronto.  The mature CBP officer was quite stern with me for not having it and this last time, 2 weeks ago, driving across the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie, the officer didn't like the idea I did not have a stamp yet.  I thought he was going to make me pull over, but after looking at the old GC, the extension letter, my passport and Nexus card, I guess he figured I had enough documentation to support I was legit so he let me go.  This guy said 'Get your stamp!" quite sternly as he returned the documents. The two other times I crossed the border were without incidence.

At the 7 month mark, I made an infopass appt  (as a result of the Toronto incident) and was told to return again AFTER my extension letter expired.  See, another example of how USCIS policies are not consistent across board.  I am going to book another info pass appt towards the end of June just to be safe.

You should be fine, however don't expect the IO at the window to believe you when you state the processing times are 24-36 out.  They're in believe its 12 months.

Keep us posted as to how it worked out.

Thanks a lot Mrs. TBH for responding to all my posts. I will keep you and everyone here posted as to how it goes. I will try and see if I could move an appointment by a week or two if possible.

Did you raise service inquiry or something. My case was last touched in August 2017 and it is still the same?

Hello,

Has anyone received a call or a voice mail from an USCIS officer?

Hello,

Yes, I did. I did not answer because I did not know the number, but it was an officer calling about my appt to get my stamp. It happens that some local offices including mine (El Paso, TX, there is none in New Mexico ) are not accepting infopass nor walk-ins. We need to submit a form online asking for an appt and just for emergencies or to get an extension stamp. So i did it and the officer called the next day! He left a voicemail and saying he will be calling again. I called USCIS to ask about it and the agent told me "they do not call, you can get your appt calling tomorrow from 8 to 6 and contacting Tier 2"

I called the nex day, this time I was told that they CAN call because there is no infopass for some offices! And by the way, appts cannot be made by phone . Really???

I submittted another form yesterday and today an officer called me just for letting me know it was to early for getting an appt. My letter expires on July 25, but they are only giving appt within the 30 days before the expiration date, so I will need to submit another form later .

And... he also told me that they are not stamping the l-94, it has to be my passport...

(Sigh...)
